It started raining lightly. I jumped up to get the covers for the garden chairs and when I reached the shed I noticed it wasn’t raining there, though rain still seemed to be falling on the other end of the garden. I could see it on the big umbrella but none was hitting me. Weird.

We went for a bike ride - a long flat run followed by a steep hill - and avoided the rain until it was time to start back.

The weather was clearly visible approaching us east across the Cheshire Plain, courtesy of Snowdonia. It hit just as we left the top of the hill. Stuck our jackets on and coasted away home. While yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far, today was cold, wet and windy, more like March. It didn't stop our fun though!

Raining, windy and set to continue until mid Monday afternoon, with strong winds up and down the coast...

Typhoon Jangmi ('Rose') to make landfall on the south coast c. 3 p.m. today.
We've had near-perpetual rain for just over a week now--the heaviest I've ever seen.
Multiple deaths and massive flooding.

This bit might be the main course.

Just got back from a superb few hours with my wife and little grandson at Bognor Regis beach.
The thermometer topped 35 degrees briefly and I was surprised at how warm the water was - felt positively Mediterranean.
Not very crowded at all - even managed to get a little surfing in (well bodyboarding anyway).
A shame the glorious 2020 weather coincides with the year of the great Chinavirus!

PS. Welcome back Max!

How is it possible for lashing rain against one side of the train when the other side is in glorious sunshine ? - mile after mile.

We're supposed to be having thunderstorms. Nothing's turned up yet.

Not since the prunes, anyway.

The sky to the West of Manchester was illuminated by more-or-less continuous lightning about an hour ago. It is now more sporadic but may be closer. Probably it's heading this way. No audible thunder yet.

I have never seen so many storm-warnings on the BBC Weather site. We should be ready for them all week. I expect them to disappear as suddenly as they arrived. :hyper:

Edit 01.02 am, thunder asserts itself. Nothing mad yet. No rain.

Edit 01.04 am, a ruddy half-moon veils herself, as if to disclaim . . .

Edit 03.55 am, overcast still, rumbles occasional, subdued flashes rarely . . . I am not wishing for more! :atom:

Edit 05.40 am, I see the warnings for the next few days have been dialled down several notches. The worst we were threatened with should be happening now!

I would be complacent about that, if the earlier warnings had been accurate . . . better batten down the hatches! :(

Guess what? Still hot and humid in Alabama.
Last couple of days feels like hottest so far this summer.
Haven’t checked the highs but the pool got up to 90F today, warmest it’s been all summer.
Not much thundershower activity over the last 2 weeks, just hot and muggy with scattered puffy clouds.
Lawn growth has slowed, grass getting a bit crunchy.

High 30s here in Paris. Not yet topped the 40 we reached in last summer's canicule.

Sleep is a myth the elders speak of.

Supposedly 34C in London again, and according to the beeb site it should be cloudless here. Currently a slightly odd sky of uniform cloud that's more light grey than anything, it has slightly yellow-y tones and a few squat, low lying wispy dark grey clouds, don't think I've seen ones like them before.

Very hot today but some local roads closed due to flooding,
the worst thunderstorms I have ever seen, stair rod rain
and constant lightening.

The sky was flickering like a strobe light last night plus thick fog and heavy rain. Loud thunder, lightning and heavy rain for the past hour and now it seems to be easing off.
My nephew lives further north in Aberdeenshire and said the thunder was so loud his house was shaking. I asked how his 4 month old dog was coping - he woke up, gave a "wassat?" look, yawned and went back to sleep.
