Huge Prehistoric Lizard-Like Animal in Iowa River,1885

I found a story of an 80ft river monster in 1885 in the Skunk River,Iowa(or Idaho?)near Oskaloosa, which ravaged a farmer`s hogs and had to be confronted by a troop of armed men,armed with guns and cannon.At last it was killed and a taxidermist was employed to stuff it and the remains were to be sent to the Academy of Natural Science at Philadelphia.

Supposedly from the tip of the tail to the end of nose was 81ft,from the forelegs to to tip of nose 19ft, body,from fore to hind legs,40ft;tail 20ft.

Was this a "tall tale" or something more?

Would an 80ft monster even be able to move on land? I'd have thought it would be too heavy to live.
