Ice Fall

You would not stand a chance he did not even react till the bits were sliding round him.

Looked to be dropping straight down at 90deg. Surely a chunk coming off an aircraft would land at an angle?

It could look like a vertical drop because the framing of the video is so small compared to the height of the drop. Or the momentum was towards the camera, or the frame rate just didn't capture the angle.

Its forward momentum would cause it to begin dropping at an angle, but ...

If there were sufficient time and atmospheric resistance (against forward motion) the trajectory of an ice chunk would degrade / devolve to more or less vertical.

^ Yup.

I was going more by the way it impacted out equilaterally (if that's a real adverb) rather than any angle of drop. Given a sub-90deg angle of trajectory through the air it should have scattered in a particular direction but didn't seem to. Just my take on it.

Maybe it was a Tesla dump.

It seems to hit on or near the raised curb so that would affect the splatter pattern.
