As evidence of just how powerful the people Epstein hung out with, Bill Clinton is the first politician to issue a statement on his association with Epstein.

Would that be the same staff and security detail who were (allegedly) totally unaware of Clinton’s (alleged) numerous (alleged) other (alleged) “indiscretions” (alleged)? You know, Special Agent Magoo and PA Stevie Wonder?

Trump also says Jeffrey who?

President Trump became the second US leader in 24 hours to distance himself from a long association with a disgraced millionaire financier charged with child sex crimes.

Mr Trump insisted that he had not spoken to Jeffrey Epstein, 66, for more than a decade and that he was “not a fan” despite once praising the hedge fund manager as “a terrific guy” who enjoyed the company of females “on the younger side”.

Epstein appeared in court in New York on Monday charged with trafficking girls as young as 14 more than a decade ago and running a “vast network of under-age victims”. Epstein, who denies the charges, had negotiated a plea deal on similar accusations in a separate case in Florida in 2008.

This will be embarrassing for the royals.

What is in the secret Prince Andrew ‘sex slave’ files?

Now, about 2,000 files from a 2015 defamation case involving Virginia Roberts, an alleged trafficking victim, are due to be released. Some are said to contain information regarding Roberts’ claim that as a teenager, she was forced by Epstein to have sex with Prince Andrew, the Daily Expressreports. The Duke of York strongly denies the allegations.

Roberts, now 35, says that she was first coerced into sexual slavery in 1998, when she was a 15-year-old working as a changing room assistant at Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago beach club in Florida, reports Business Insider.

She has claimed in court documents that she was “procured for sexual activities” by Ghislaine Maxwell, a personal aide of Epstein and friend of Prince Andrew. Maxwell also denies the claims.

Roberts says Epstein used her as a “sex slave” and forced her to sleep with his prominent associates, including the Prince. The royal was pictured with his arm around the then-17-year-old’s waist at Maxwell’s London home in 2001.

Epstein and Roberts are believed to have settled a civil lawsuit out of court in 2009 but six years later, she attempted to join a lawsuit launched by other alleged victims trying to reopen the Epstein case. However, the judge ruled that too much time had passed since her original suit and threw out her allegations against Andrew because they were “immaterial and impertinent to the central claim”.

Maxwell then gave an interview during which she called Roberts a “liar”. In response, Roberts sued her for defamation in the US, with that case also settled.

“Most of the court documents remained under seal following legal representations from Maxwell, who is a daughter of the late disgraced media tycoon Robert Maxwell,” reports The Times.

But in the latest ruling, Jose Cabranes, a US appeals judge, said that the public’s right to know the content of the documents containing the allegedly revealing information “outweighed the privacy rights of people who wanted to keep them secret”.

Just to draw a line under this scandal, the liar who claimed there was a paedophile ring in Westminster is convicted on all counts:
Conviction report

Not only has he wasted £2m, but he smeared many innocent people, and has made it more difficult for genuine cases of abuse to be taken seriously. Plus he was caught with child porn. I'm currently despairing of humanity, and this doesn't make me feel better. But at least he was exposed.

This reminds me very strongly of the satanic ritual abuse stories of the late 1980s and 1990s – and probably beyond. Wholly unbelievable stories – or stories that could have been proved to be complete fabrications without that much actual detecting work – that seemed to be have been taken at face value by the authorities and a credulous press, with the potential to destroy lives and reputations in the process. All the while more prominent abusers hid in plain sight and with a little serious investigation their activities might well have been uncovered earlier; specifically I'm thinking of the Savile affair.

It beggars belief that the police spent so much time investigating - and believing - the stories when Carl Beech's supposed evidence unravelled quite early on.

it does seem to be a tremendous amount of money. but its good they did investigate surely? Historical abuse is a real thing.

it does re-enforce the argument that the accused should also be kept confidential until charged though. i hoped this guy goes down for a long time though.

Yes, they had to investigate but I get the impressions the accusations fell apart quickly when Beech's evidence didn't stack up – times and places just weren't possible etc. It sounds like the police went in believing him credible before actually assessing whether his evidence was credible. And I daren't look at the nether regions of the net but there are probably people who believe his stories and that he was framed by the top-level conspiracy...

That his allegations went so far is a damning indictment of the police's decision to announce that they will believe any accuser.

In a police briefing at Scotland Yard on 18 December, Det Supt Kenny McDonald appealed for boys who might have been abused to come forward.
In a BBC interview that followed the briefing he said: "You will be believed, we will support you".

The police, of course, form their own opinions, but it's not their duty or their business to be making public statements on who they will (pre-emptively) or do (currently) believe. It's their duty to investigate and put the facts before crown prosecutors. If there are no sufficient evidential grounds for a prosecution to proceed, their own duty is (to quote my favourite lawyer) to 'Shut the fuck up'.

To my pleasure, I find that the clown of a Chief Constable who oversaw the Ted Heath 'investigation' has since lost his job as he turned out to be a lying abuser himself (of women, not children--see story):

Mike Veale came in for criticism after spending two years and £1.5 million investigating historic claims against Sir Edward, despite the fact he had been dead for more than a decade.
A report, published in October 2017 concluded that Sir Edward would have been questioned over allegations that he raped and indecently assaulted boys as young as 10 were he alive today.
But the late former Prime Minister's supporters dismissed the report as a "whitewash" that would leave a stain hanging over his reputation and legacy.

Tarantino Billboards Hijacked in L.A. to Slam Epstein, Polanski and "Pedowood"

image2-h_2019.jpg

Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio no longer appear on several ads in Hollywood for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, as a conservative street artist has swapped their images with those of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and film director Roman Polanski.

The artist behind the alterations goes by the name Sabo, and he says that the faux ads are meant to insult the entertainment industry for embracing Polanski, who plead guilty to sex with a minor four decades ago, and, to a lesser extent Epstein, who was arrested July 6 for sex trafficking of minors.

Some of the police involved should be going to jail too.

Is it really legal to take a case forward in which there is no actual evidence, testimony that doesn't stack up and in which they know people's lives will be destroyed?

Only motive I can see was they wanted the credit for bagging some celebrity paedos?

Jeffrey Epstein.

Well, I for one am shocked that a man likely to implicate a large number of rich and famous people as members of his VIP paedophile ring, a man found injured in a foetal position a fortnight ago following a likely suicide attempt, let it be remembered, has somehow outfoxed his guards and managed to kill himself in prison.

“While on suicide watch and handcuffed behind his back, he shot himself twice in the forehead with a suppressed .380 which has not been found.

Verdict: Natural causes.”

;)

Edit: l emphasise that this is a cynical, humorous observation, and that no official cause of death has been established!

Cause of death: hanging.

Rumours of a 'camera malfunction'.

Meanwhile, MSNBC host says:

It's odd - one of the first things I though of when I heard the news was the assassination of Boris Nemtsov. I am obviously not trying to draw any sort of parallel between the character of the two dead men, more that it was a brazen message from the Russian state that it considers itself untouchable and above the law, and that the rest of us should know our place: heads down and mouths shut, or they would be shut for us.
