ITV Means ACTION In The 60s-70s

I've been watching Man in a Suitcase and rather enjoying it... considering that I like a number of UK shows from the 60's & 70's that originated somewhere in the ITV cannon (Avengers, Jason King, The Prisoner, Danger Man, The Protectors, The Persuaders - I think they are all ITV anyway) I was curious to know what other series are recommended from this period, and is there any guide to ITV from that period that lists their action/spy/fantastic shows?

Have you watched Who Dares Wins?

It very much of the same ilk as some of the series mentioned upthread. I can't report that it's the best in terms of plot and script, but the ACTION is plausibly gritty and Lewis Collins famously runs down a corridor in an exceptionally macho way—he was a trained soldier.

He would have been a great James Bond - pity he was regarded as "too aggresive"
Though known for his role as tough-guy Bodie, Collins had a shot at playing James Bond following the departure of Sean Connery from the classic British role.

In 1982, Collins auditioned to take over from Roger Moore (the actor went on to make several more films before being placed by Timothy Dalton) though his try-out was deemed "too aggressive," according to the Daily Mail.

Famously Stewart Lee's most hated film. Collins wanted to be Bond so much it hurt, it was all over his performance like bad aftershave.

I hadn't heard of Who Dares Win - looks to be a wild ride!

It's pretty stupid, pretty boring. The villains are CND, who want to set off a nuclear warhead. That's The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. Who want to set off a nuclear bomb.
The description I read was that it was radicals who infultrated CND, rather than the CND, who were the baddies. The director admitted that he didn't tell that part of it well.

That's right.

Though the plot holes are another reason I can't objectively claim it's a good film, but the action parts are still pretty actiony!

Oh, Who Dares Wins.
As with The Wild Geese before it, the politics are generally on the reactionary side, and yet I still love it.

From the Roy Budd score, to already mentioned action scenes, to the frankly, ludicrous plot (quite why Collins actually had to abuse the American & German soldiers for his infiltration backstory, I'm not sure).

I hate the term guilty pleasures, but if I didn't, this would definitely be one of them.
