There was one in the early 70s.

I know this because I live near Beachy Head, and whenever my parents are visiting from the Homeland they talk about the holiday they had in the area when the cliff tops were covered in the little blighters.

I've just realised, next August will mark the 10th anniversary of the Cromer ladybird invasion!

I'm going to speak to someone I know who's heavily involved in organising our yearly carnivals and see if we can also organise a Cromer ladybird day

Sorry to hear about the British invasion by unwelcomed beetles (excuse the pun). In the US these guys are welcome for localized aphid - pest control. However only the natural variety are encouraged, for obvious reasons. There are exterminators that specialize in ridding their unwanted evasive relatives.
