This is an odd earthen structure that seems to be artificial, layered, and quite old. This doesn't seem to be just a figment of someone's imagination like the alleged pyramids in Bosnia.

It's not symmetrical like Egyptian or Mayan pyramids, but it appears to be deliberately built.
Long-Hidden 'Pyramid' Found in Indonesia Was Likely an Ancient Temple

An enormous pyramid-like structure in Indonesia that may represent the remains of an ancient temple hid underground for thousands of years.

Scientists presented evidence of the remarkable construction Dec. 12 here at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union (AGU).

Located atop Mount Padang in West Java, the structure is topped by an archaeological site that was discovered in the early 19th century and holds rows of ancient stone pillars. But the sloping "hill" underneath isn't part of the natural, rocky landscape; it was crafted by human hands, scientists discovered. ...

"What is previously seen as just surface building, it's going down — and it's a huge structure," said Andang Bachtiar, an independent geologist from Indonesia who supervised core drilling and soil analysis for the project. ...

Using an array of techniques to peer underground — including ground-penetrating radar surveys, X-ray tomography, 2D and 3D imaging, core drilling, and excavations — the researchers gradually uncovered several layers of a sizable structure. It spread over an area of around 15 hectares (150,000 square meters) and had been built up over millennia, with layers representing different periods. ...

At the very top were pillars of basalt rocks framing step terraces, with other arrangements of rock columns "forming walls, paths and spaces," the scientists reported at AGU. They estimated this layer to be about 3,000 to 3,500 years old.

Underneath the surface, to a depth of about 10 feet (3 m), was a second layer of similar rock columns, thought to be 7,500 to 8,300 years old. And a third layer, extending 49 feet (15 m) below the surface, is more than 9,000 years old; it could even date to 28,000 years ago, according to the researchers. Their surveys also detected multiple chambers underground, Natawidjaja added.

Given the existence of Borobadur https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borobudur I am surprised that more ruins from the period of the immense eruption haven't been found.

There don't seem to have been any recent updates on the Gunung Padang site or excavations done there.

The claims made for the site's age and artificial construction have been controversial for some time. In addition, other Indonesian researchers and science administrators have criticized the attention given Gunung Padang at the expense of other sites and projects.

Latest evidence suggest that the Gunung Padang structure (as featured on Graham Hancock's Ancient Apocalypse) is the oldest pyramid on Earth.
A team of archaeologists, geophysicists and geologists, drilled into the mound’s centre, dug trenches and took soil samples. from the first layers of Gunung Padang, more than 30m below its surface.
“This study strongly suggests that Gunung Padang is not a natural hill but a pyramid-like construction,” said the researchers in the paper.
The team also found evidence of “a large cavity”, possibly a hidden chamber, within the pyramid.
The structure was built in stages – thousands of years apart. The oldest construction of the pyramid likely “originated as a natural lava hill before being sculpted and then architecturally enveloped” between 25,000BC and 14,000BC, according to the team.
This makes Gunung Padang at least 16,000 years old.

16,000 years extends the timeline of human civilisation yet again, the previous figure being circa 12,000 years for the Sphinx.
This is very significant. Archaeologists should be all over it, if it's allowed.

I suspect human civilisation goes back further than anyone suspects, but all the oldest constructions have simply been erased by the passage of time. This pyramid is amazing, if true. I note that Danny Hilman Natawidjaja is a geologist, not an archaeologist, and his previous claims have not been peer reviewed, and have been heavily criticised.

Was he the guy who Hancock interviewed on his programme?

There's a lot of skepticism about this site, despite the hype of the authors of the paper.
The concensus is still that the site is an extinct volcano that formed basaltic columns.
The papers published don't really counter this, and though they have soil samples they don't establish the dates taken from those samples relate to human activities.
Carl Feagans has a good wrote up about the site on his blog:
