Lettering On Bird Brooch?

Just bought this! I think it's lovely! Dragon type head, bird type body. Is it a representation of a particular muthological thing, or pure fantasy from the designer. And what is the script? what does it say?

It looks Thai to me, that'd be my guess, though I'm happy to be corrected. Sorry, I can't translate either. Interesting piece though.
