I recently saw an intresting page about a big cat as yet unknown to science called the marozi, it is said to be like a lion leopard hybrid and lives in mountainous regions of africa at elevations above 10,000 feet
Does any one else have any information about these animals or details of experditions to find them?

thanks for the link it was very informative, I was hoping to find news of more recent experditions to fined these animals or planned experditions, if anyone out there knows anything I would be very greatfull

No one seems to be interested in looking for the marozi. As tang-malow said, the consensus is that they have vanished - either a species that became extinct or sterile hybrids that died without reproducing.

The best bet for solving the mystery of the marozi is the skin (from an animal shot in 1931) at the Natural History Museum in London. There are supposed to be plans to do DNA tests, but I can't find any details.

This website has good information about the marozi and big cat hybrids, as well as other feline oddities like winged cats and cabbits:

hmmm I've already seen that site (and enjoyed it) . I think its a shame if no one is intrested any more I'd love to go look for this animal if I had the funds, maybe I'll win the lottery one day and actualy do it :)

Thanks for this webiste naitaka.
I found it really interesting altho i thought some of the pictures looked fake, particulary the black and white picture of the leapon. Its face looked almsot super imposed onto the body.
Still it was interesting. Thanks again
