Beckjord! (aka Wintermute; aka Mothman)

It's this chap who has a somewhat differently sane view of reality and cryptozoology. Beckjord

Jon-Erik Beckjord, BA (honors -Tulane),MBA (UC Berk.) , is a manag- ment consultant and also an investigtor of anomalous phenomena world-wide, spirit photographer, an adventurer, traveller, lecturer and author. There is a tremendous amount of info, photos, evidence in these
sites linked below, and how can Beckjord have done this? He used his MBA skills, Mensa traits, & photographic skills, to go out and go after these mysteries full time, working only to get the next airline ticket, while others decided to raise kids, become middle-managers, watch TV, join Little League, and get early heart attacks. Your webmaster avoided that, is broke, but he has had a glimpse of the mysterious, and it has been worth it. Adventure! Now he shares it with you, and several books will be made form these sites. Letterman,Leno, and Good Morning America all approve, he's been on em all, and more. Now take a look. Don't forget to see the SPIRIT PHOTOGRAPHER site -- can give you closure if he is able to assist you by getting images of your late loved ones for you to see.

But still I ponder, why do people constantly use his name? People even refer to anomalies AS beckjord, that just makes no sense to me. See "boynamedsue"'s post above.

He spawned a monster that is himself. Which in turn is also a fantasy ;)

In one post he claimed that he WAS Mothman. He may have been a member of MENSA too. ;) This thread will give you a taste of the glory that was Beckjord.

MOTHMAN THEORIES SPARK PARANORMAL CATFIGHT

SAN FRANCISCO (Wireless Flash) -- Richard Gere's new movie, "The
Mothman Prophecies," is causing a catfight in the paranormal
community.

On one side is cryptozoologist Loren Coleman, who says the
Mothman may be a physical being -- especially since Native
Americans in West Virginia have reported sightings for
centuries.

But paranormal researcher Jon-Erik Beckjord disagrees and calls
Coleman an "idiot."

He says all available evidence suggests only one thing: The
Mothman incidents are really cases of people having out- of-body
experiences.

Beckjord says many people report "going somewhere" when they
dream and figures someone who's left their body might look like
a winged man to casual observers.

Meanwhile, Coleman says every time "sane cryptozoologists" make
any serious headway, Beckjord shows up to "make a ridiculous
claim like this one."

You can find Beckjord's theory somewhere or other on his rather lurid site, along with "The Meaning of Life", "BECKJORD'S UNIFIED THEORY ON ANOMALIES" and "The Incredible Squirrel Wire": http://www.beckjord.com/

(And I have to say that the "incredible squirrel wire" really isn't all that incredible)

Whoa. That site is the motherlode of incredible webpages!

I notice that Beckjord (eccentric rather than insane, surely?) is now an Ebay entrepeneur.

He's a man of many parts and also a member of MENSA if I'm not mistaken.

No longer a registered member.
I get regular emails telling me my Ebay membership has been suspended - which is odd, as I've never been a member!

Has Beckjord stolen my identity? Or do I have multiple personality disorder - perhaps I am Beckjord...!

I've had those as well. They're actually a phishing scam intended to con you into revealing personal information along with details of your bank and credit card accounts.

See here for further details.

Yeah, I guessed that.

I was tempted to respond with a load of duff data, but then I couldn't be arsed!

And I didn't want to let them know the email addy was valid.
(I read and deleted the email using my spam filter, so I hope the sender has no idea whether or not I recieved it.)

I get those all the time too, along with "please help us with your customer details" purporting to be from American banks. You can send the eBay ones to spoof@ebay.[country code as appropriate: .ca, .com, .co.uk, etc.)

Don't tell me Beckjord has gone. Noooooo....just as I bother to find out who he is.....gah.!!!! I soooooooo wanted to...nah...buggrit (you know the rest)

He's not banned from the FTMB or anything.

There are always a few who flounce off with little or no effort on our part whatsoever (and in some cases come back occasionally, just to remind people that they've flounced off, just in case they hadn't noticed or something.)

Beckjord has his own message board where his sock-puppets endlessly interact - he really has no need to converse with non-MENSA people at all now.

His latest mail-order product is the incredibly dull Squirrel Wire:

Nuts!

Oh and he is now calling himself Captain Neon!

For 90% of you fools, in 1490, you would have voted for the Flat Earth EB:blah:

I may be mistaken here, but didn't Christopher Columbus actually sail around the world to prove it was flat, not round, as it is so commonly thought?

Columbus' voyage had feck all to do with "proving" anything about the shape of the world; this "they all thought the world was flat" is one of the great historical ULs IMO. No, he was looking for a trade route to India.

Ah, thank you for clearing that up Leaferne.

The world is round? This changes everything! Does Beckjord know?

I wish he'd post again. I'd like to have a little....er....conversation re: iq, mensa and him. (I suppose most current posters know my stance on IQ tests?)

I suspect he was the one who set it spinning. ;)

We'd better not upset him then, he might stop it again. We'd all be thrown into space!
