A mountain lion was killed by the runner it attacked

An unidentified man who was running on Horsetooth Mountain Open Space’s West Ridge Trail near Fort Collins, Colorado had a nasty encounter on with a juvenile cougar on Monday, which ended with the runner wounded and the animal strangled to death, the Coloradoan reported this week.
According to the Coloradoan, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has confirmed that a male cougar (Puma concolor couguar, also known as a mountain lion, puma, or catamount) weighing at least 80 pounds attacked the man and managed to inflict bite wounds to his face and wrist—before the tables turned and the man managed to suffocate it with his bare hands. The runner sustained “serious, but non-life threatening injuries” in the deeply unfortunate incident, CPW wrote in a statement, while wildlife officials took the corpse of the cougar for a necropsy.

California man finds mountain lion behind washing machine in his garage

Sean Ishol, of Lucerne Valley, California, was putting a load of laundry into the dryer Monday when he heard his two dogs whimpering and crouching down.

As he bent down to get a closer look, Ishol saw a dark shadow and two light eyes peering out at him from behind the machines. Instantly, Ishol recognized it was a mountain lion and he slowly backed away, instructing his wife to do the same.

It may have been taking shelter from a storm or attracted by their chickens & goats.

they called animal control and waited for a professional to handle what they estimated to be a roughly 100-pound cat.

"This happened at 8:25 p.m. [Monday] and they didn't get here until 12:44 a.m. [Tuesday]," Ishol said. "I just really needed my clothes for work!"

When the animal control officer arrived, Ishol opened the garage door and the wildlife official examined it, identifying it as an older female. They safely removed the mountain lion from the Ishols' property.

After a scuffle where it had him by the wrist, he stood on its throat until it expired. Silently. All the time he was worried if another one turned up.
Top guy. Hat tipped.

Another mountain lion fought off.

A mother fought off a mountain lion after it attacked her seven-year-old son while he was playing in the family's garden.

Chelsea Bromley heard Zack's screams and rushed to his rescue, finding him with the mountain lion's jaws clenched around his forearm outside their home in Vancouver Island, Canada. She jumped on top of the animal and tried unsuccessfully to prise its jaw open - until her screams for help caused the big cat to flee.

The boy's father, Kevin Bromley, told Global News there was "blood everywhere". He said Mrs Bromley had saved their son's life, adding: "She's beside herself. If it had been a bigger cougar, it would have been over."

Peacefully corralled.

A quick-thinking janitor managed to safely confine a mountain lion in an empty classroom after it entered a Northern California high school, authorities have said.

The janitor was opening Pescadero High for the school day when the juvenile mountain lion was spotted, said Detective Javier Acosta of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

No students or teachers were on campus at the time, Mr Acosta said.

“The mountain lion casually walked through campus and decided to go into an English classroom,” he said.

“The custodian acted quickly and managed to shut the door behind it.”

Mr Acosta said the animal, estimated to be about 40lbs, appeared “lost and scared”.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife tranquilised the big cat and sent it to the Oakland Zoo for examination.
