Ancient artefacts have been smeared with oil at Berlin's Pergamon museum.

A conspiracy theory has arisen that the Pergamon Museum is the centre of the “global satanism scene” because it holds a reconstruction of the ancient Greek sacrificial Pergamon Altar.

This echoes the 2018 vandalism at an Athens museum in which two women were arrested for daubing artefacts with "miraculous" oils and myrhh, in a recipe supposedly from the scriptures.

A hell of a museum! No pun intended.

This line of thought makes some kind of sense - many of the objects in the museum are from pre-judeochristian cultures in the new east, which were of course associated with satanism/evil by the bible (for example Ba'al ('Lord') went from being a perfectly respectable god to being a demon)

I can see the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office paying a few board members a visit soon.
