This could be called kensho -

This is the first glimpse of true nondual reality according to the Buddhists. It probably means at some deep level your spirit has woken up if this happens.
That it should happen at a time of deep grief is not surprising - all your egos defenses had been stripped away, leaving nothing for you to identify with.
Further experiences after this could be an increase in syncronicities (the inner and the outer become aligned) and perhaps the emergence of a teacher in your everyday life (when the student is ready, the teacher will come).
Note, a teacher may be quite mundane and unexpected. For me, it was an art teacher in one case. You do not need to be Buddhist of believe in anything for this to happen to you. Reality works
