I was just bringing in the garbage bins from around the curb when I noticed a white mini van had stopped beside me. Inside was a man who looked like a guy I dated a while ago. He started at me for a little and then drove on. What's strange is that the mini van looked like those minivans from those stories on stranger sites than this one of people thinking the goverment is tapping them or someone stalking them  lol...who knows who knows...

Just about all abduction stories around here have the "white mini van".

I'd tread carefully there!

I was talking to my son's friend one night as we were all out on a 'late night walk' and he started talking about a black van that was said to steal kids in the dead of night. He said at school there had been talk of a girl being snatched in the area and found in Newcastle, all cut up. Then he went on to tell me he'd made it all up, apart from the fact that there WAS talk of this mysterious van. It was all so convincing. Kids, eh?
Oh, then we saw a black van drive by...

It's funny this is posted now. We have had a white van (small removals type) parked just down from us for over a week now

That's funny..was it one of those blank ones with no graphics on it? I've had white ones visit around our house and just sit around there occassionally before.

yikes! this is in canada though not in england...Ill look them up but I'll appreciate some links

Well, there have been several attempted and/or successful stories in the news here. There is even a Facebook group warning people in England:

Also - IIRC that Austrian girl who got kidnapped was taken by a white van I think. The reason with the white van is that they are in many countries the most widely used type of commercial vehicles and pretty much everywhere.

And most people couldn't tell, say a Ford Van from a Toyota one - they look pretty much the same regardless of brand.

Just a random google search provides many links:

Then again - some say it is an urban myth...

I drive a white wagon, so I am sitting on the fence on this one!

On the general theme, I kept bumping into a recent ex many years ago. The relationship ended in acrimonious circumstances - she'd been seeing someone else and demanded I leave our shared house. For about two years we'd bump into one another in the most bizarre places, ones I'd picked specifically to avoid the likelihood of meeting her. We'd find new friends knew one another, likewise job colleagues and later, web pages with no conceivable connection would feature her.

The coincidences became so pronounced I began to wonder whether I was subconsciously tracking her somehow and I'm certain it lead to accusations of stalking.
Years later I was absent mindedly looking at a house on a country walk, a good forty miles from where we used to live and with which neither of us had any previous connection, to find the woman in a car looking back at me was her. These silent meetings, neither of us said anything, continued until I moved sixty miles north. I fully expect to find her moving in as a next door neighbour one day.

God, this is strange stuff. In the early eighties we moved house from Newcastle to Crawley in Sussex. One day I went for a walk in the woods and bumped into a family who ran a bingo hall we used to go to - back up near Newcastle.
I remember once being really into stone circles. I just read and read about them. One day, looking round a very plain churchyard (more like a lawn, absolutely no features whatsoever) I bumped into a man round the back. Straight away he started talking about stone circles.
That woman you mentioned, I find this sort of mystery fascinating. It feels like it doesn't mean anything and yet seems to mean everything.

That's exactly the way to describe it. In the first year or so the meetings were painful emotionally, certainly for me, but after that they took on a surreal quality, almost like a tulpa one could summon by bringing her to mind.

On one occasion I'd been walking with my wife, kids and in-laws and mentioned the place I used to live, (avoiding who with for obvious political reasons) a good forty miles distant when we pulled over to let a car pass. Guess who was driving? Utterly bizarre.

It sounds like she was stalking you...on a similar note to the one below your post: I moved countries to canada, and ten years later found one of my old school friends on facebook. Turns out he moved countries to canada too to a nearby location, and another boy from our school moved to the town next to me. I actually used to have dreams of them moving here when I just moved myself.

I've had a similar experience. While driving back from a friends house, at about 5 am, a few years ago, I passed a large white transit type van which had the numbers 101 painted in black on the back, which was parked in a lay by. I gigged to my sister, who was with me, that maybe Orwell was right and maybe some "big brother" activity was happening.
As it was so early there was little else on the road, however about a mile, maybe two miles on we saw another large white transit van with 101 painted in black on the back. This one was also parked in a lay by. The first van had not passed us and it was impossible for it to be in the second location. We were both totally sober/in our right minds. It was so odd, and we suddenly found it not so funny! I had forgotten until reading this post!

Perhaps that was part of a police observation. They may have marked them like that for easy identification.

 The police wouldn't paint numbers on vehicles!
It'd be too noticeable - give the game away.

Back in the 70s (maaan) a friend and I were photographing in some woods near his house. Next minute two squaddies were escorting us to HQ, where we were questioned about our activities. There's not too much a pair of shit-scared art students can tell the military and after some time they released us, giving the impression they bought what we said.

We went back to his mother's house and up the pub and it was some hours before I made my way back to my parent's place. As I arrived back an unmarked green Mini van clocked me and pulled away. It had been sitting there all afternoon apparently, seeing if the story checked out no doubt.
We didn't see any warning notices in the area, although as we were off road its conceivable we missed them. Certainly made the old paranoia rise a few notches.

What bothers me is that the person inside looked like my old date...

What also bothers is that this is not the only stalking situation that happened to me. A long time ago I stayed at the hospital in the mental health ward. Well I was calling home and had my numbers written down incase I forget them, and this girl kept on hovering over my shoulder, lookning at the numbers. Then a few months later I was at home, and I received a phone call of someone claiming to be so and so from the hospital, and that I have an appointment at a certain time. The voice was of the girl from the hospital, as well as the accent. Something about her in general spooked me out. I call back the hospital and told them so and so told me I have an appointment at this time, and they go, no, this is not your appointment time and this person does not work here. I swear I am not hallucinating...spooked me so badly.

Today I was reading about the "organized stalking" conspiracy and I know this time it is just my paranoia gripping me, but I started thinking about it. Just in case I am keeping a journal of events to see if anything else spooky happens. So far I've only written down paranoid things haha. Perhaps it was just the odd strange person pulling a prank on me.

Maybe if you keep a journal of these happenings, you subconsciously look for them, so things that you wouldn't normally notice, are more apparent.

I think so too. Thankfully my paranoia subsided after a few days, I'm not paranoid anymore. However I still wonder who that mysterious caller was...

Maybe it's not so much spooky, as just a lonely woman trying to get you to visit her? I know that's creepy, but in a sad way, not a scary way, if you get what I mean.

Going back to the man in a little van thing, a couple of months ago I had a strange experience.
It was dark. I'd parked at Tescos and when I returned to my car I spent a second or two cleaning the frost off the windscreen and the door mirror.
Then, as I was setting off, a small van in the row of cars opposite turned on its lights. I flashed my lights to let him go, but he just stayed there. So I waited, and flashed my lights again. He still didn't move, and I could see the driver staring at me.
I got the feeling that he really wanted me to go first.
With this in mind, I thought I would get rid of him by turning into the Tescos petrol station and filling up...but he followed me!
So I took my sweet time filling up, and took the opportunity to give the guy a look as he was filling up. He went and paid, then I went and paid after he had come out.
I stayed in the shop, dithering. Even though he had paid, he was still there, waiting.
So I spent some time staring hard out of the window at him.
Finally, he got the message, and drove off.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the situation, but I think I'd had an encounter with a psychopath who had tried to target me. The whole thing had an 'odd' feel to it.

You know it's possible it was a sociopath in a bad mood who tried to scare you...

Sociopath? Psychopath? Same end result, really.

Being a female driver, although not a particularly vulnerable one, I'd have written that van's reg number down and a few details about the driver - height, hair, build etc. Or even taken a photo or video on my phone.

When I got home I'd have considered ringing the police to tell them about it. You never know, they might check him out and find something scary going on.

In fact, I did something similar many years ago. Long story short, I was about 19, waiting for the the future Mr Snail #1 in a street, in broad daylight, when a man in a van pulled up and tried to attract my attention by waving a wad of notes at me.

I walked off smartish. He followed me and turned round more than once to keep me in sight. I wrote down his number. When the boyf turned up I dragged him to the police station to report it. They checked the number and found that the driver was a known kiddy-fiddler from the next city. They hadn't even known he could drive, until then!

Until they came and told us that, the boyf thought I was making it up.

The police were very chuffed and grateful to find out something new. :D

I've never figured out why he picked on me, though. :?

I was once walking to my local, early evening, during the summer - so it wasn't anywhere near dark. It was a 'new' red light district, in that the girls had steadily been ushered away from their usual haunts. A car pulled over and I politely walked to the window assuming that the driver needed directions through Leeds' infamous one way system. (if you come from Leeds, you'll know this is a common occurance, I often reply "Je n'est par parle Anglais" ) The driver wound down his window and asked...

"Are you walking or working?"

Perchance something similar happen to you Escargot? ;)

Yup, possibly, except that I wasn't anywhere near anything you could call a red light area and was dressed in jeans and a leather jacket and carrying a crash helmet.

Also, the bloke apparently liked kids rather than women of nearly 20.

I think he'd just driven there from his home town - it's less than 20 miles - and picked on the first young woman he'd seen standing alone in the street. But as kerbcrawling is illegal and I wasn't on the game he gambled and lost. ;)

Good advice from Escargot, there. If something like that happens to you, try to get the vehicle's make and number, then report it to the police. That kind of info. can help catch persistent pests.

Yup, reminds me of a horrible thing that happened near here a few years ago, on my dogwalking route. A woman of about 60 was attacked and roughed up by a teenaged boy.

As most of the dogwalkers know each other, word soon got around, especially as the police interviewed quite a few.

Seems that this young man had been seen acting weirdly in the area for a while beforehand. People told me that they'd seen him possibly following women, dodging about in the bushes, and, get this, rolling around on the ground wrapped in clingfilm.

Not one had called the police about him. They just tried to ignore him.
I hadn't ever seen him but if I had, and he was acting suspiciously like that, I'd have rung them, and again tried to get a photo.

Perhaps he was there when I was but thought better of trying to harass me. ;)
