An Inappropriate Content warning (1 point; 1 month) has been issued to @Coastaljames for posting political content.
 
@Gene Hunt73 has been given an amber warning for posting innuendo about a public figure being a paedophile. We have already asked him not to do this and removed comments attacking politicians that he has previously posted.

1) We are very much in favour of criticising public figures when they deserve it, but not on this message board. One man's hero is another man's villain, and it invariably ends in acrimony as opposed to the happy contentment of a debate well aired.

2) If you are going to accuse anybody of paedophilia, you'd better have all the receipts, not just a vague feeling that by jumping on the social-media train to Gadara you are sticking it to the Man. Attempts to wrap accusations up in clever wordplay or suggestive images are a) no legal defence whatsoever, b) often much less funny than hoped.

If you disagree with our caution in this area, please send us a brief statement of application; if you meet our criteria, you too might receive a moderator's badge and a place on the list of the potentially liable.
 
An Inappropriate Content warning (1 point; 1 month) has been issued to @Kondoru for opening a discussion on propriety / morality regarding who's depicted on national currency - violating stated forum policies prohibiting 'politics' or 'culture wars' content.
 
An Inappropriate Language warning (1 point; 1 month) has been issued to Herr Cloaca for using a personally pejorative term in a post within the Three-Wheeled Cars thread.
 
@Souleater has received an AMBER warning.

He posted a speech by Jacob Rees Mogg in the House of Commons with the comment:

'...this has to be the most cringe worthy thing EVER'​

The speech itself was fairly apolitical, but, to be clear, we do not need to hear from politicians unless they are discussing Forteana. As soon as you start passing judgment on a politician's speech, be that judgment one of endorsement or opposition, you are playing the game we do not play here.

The post also opened with the unpromising introduction:

'I hope this doesnt voilate the 'no politics' rule...'​

Please, don't hope, wish or pray—just ask; you'll get a response from us in a very short time, and then this whole unpleasant (and unpleasantly time-consuming) process will be obviated.

The warning issued is AMBER because this user has already received three single-point warnings in the past six months. There's no hard and fast rule here, but it seems like a suitable point at which to draw a firmer line.
 
@lordmongrove has been issued with a one-point warning for airing his views on the BBC's party political biases and perceived 'wokism'.

We have enough of this everywhere else; it will not be permitted to gain a foothold on this board.

This places him somewhere above his existing amber status. If we have more political content, we will move him to red—the final stage before departure.

We have no wish for this to happen, but we've already had this discussion with regard to Trump (today it was Jacob Rees-Mogg).

Whenever we have mistakenly overlooked little quips, they have escalated in a tit-for-tat fashion with responses from those who fly opposing flags.

That's why 'only a joke' isn't sufficient justification.
 
A single point warning is issued to Tanglebones for complaints about Brexit.

Those comments may or may not be fair and true, but they are not what this board was established to discuss.
 
Blessmycottonsocks issued a final warning for repeatedly characterising an entire nation on the basis of the actions of a few of its society, despite repeated requests to stop or modify the language used. This constitutes racism.

We have been here before.

Any further such infringement in the next six months will result in an instant ban.
 
As I indicated on thread last night, posts were removed from the WTF thread as perpetuated the trans debate, despite a clear instruction from me the night before that it should cease.

Maximus Otter, ramonmercado and Mythopoeika nonetheless continued to do so and as a result each has incurred a green warning.
 
A Green warning (1 point; 3 months) has been issued to Herr Cloaca for inappropriate / insensitive commentary to the effect a sculptor should have crafted better "tits" on a statue.
 
An Amber Warning (2 points; 6 months) has been issued to Swifty for posting an off-topic quip to the Forum Functions & Functionality thread following Stu's post advising such chatter would not be tolerated there.

Swifty has been banned for a full week (until 5 May) for repeatedly taunting the mods and continuing his mis-posting of off-topic messages to the Forum Function & Functionality thread after the policy on such behavior was made quite clear.
 
@uair01 has been issued an amber warning.

As he has been informed privately, many of us have found his contributions to the board valuable and entertaining for years, but there is zero flexibility in our prohibition against politics, so his recent post concerning the irony of the Prime Minister's recent appearances has been removed.

The fact that the post was prefaced (as with the last post of his that garnered a warning) with an acknowledgment that he knew he was about to post about politics despite our request not to only seems to make the matter slightly worse: we (well, 'I' in this case) have to spend time sending messages, logging actions, alerting other mods and typing this!

Please, as I've now typed on this thread a handful of times: we don't say your criticisms of politicians are valid or invalid, fair or unfair, we just ask you to make them elsewhere so this board doesn't become that kind of place.
 
A green warning (1 point; 3 months) has been issued to Jokers Wild for posting an inflammatory / trolling post in the Reincarnation thread that secondarily violates the Terms & Rules provision against promoting religious dogma.

Off-topic posting of deliberately inflamatory culture war/anti-PC material:

We do not take a position in favour of or against calls for 'diversity' in science and broadcasting, but we do have guidelines to protect community coherence.

If this topic had been thoughtfully expressed on an appropriate thread, and the article had nestled within a longer post addressing perceived concerns in cryptozoology (if only to reject them), it might just have produced a viable debate; none of this occurred.

Instead we got two intemperate posts I'd expect to find on Facebook or Twitter. Posting when 'homicidal with rage' is not a good place to begin.
