August Derleth Namechecks Charles Fort

Oh, it looks like they've got a few August Derleth stories on that page. He wasn't considered the greatest writer (well, neither was Lovecraft, for that matter) but his stories scared me out of several years of growth when I was a kid!

I quite enjoyed the single compilation of his short stories that I borrowed from a friend. It seemed even pulpier than Lovecraft and certainly quicker paced.

There are far worse writers in the 'Mythos' genre.

As to names: Algernon Blackwood! And his best are truly great evocations of fear.

Go and read The Wendigo and The Willows this evening and come back here to thank me tomorrow!
