National Rail Enquiries tweet

It could either be a hoax or a large dog fitting the description.
There seem to be no reports of a lion escaping from a zoo.

Shepley had a big black cat report a few years ago too, I believe it made it into an FT ABC round-up, but I can't find anything about it online.

By coincidence the last time I was down there, at the end of October 2011, a friend told me about 'pagans' practising in Shepley woods, which is a story I last remember hearing something like 25 years ago (actually then it was 'satanists').
It wouldn't surprise me, and I don't suggest the events are in any way related, but the timing is interesting.

It's not a hugely mystical part of the world but the woods are very atmospheric and the train line runs through them.

Hoax?

Three calls about different locations?

wouldn't genuine mistaken identity on behalf of the callers seem more likely if it was different people calling in the sightings.

They seem to have hit it with the "Hoax" stick a bit quick.

... and a little local humour ....
