Seen on line at the ATM:
Efforts to save the whale continue.
French officials desperately trying to rescue a beluga whale trapped in the River Seine have come up with a new strategy - a vitamin cocktail.
According to AFP, rescuers hope it will help the lost whale regain its appetite and the energy needed to return to sea. The visibly malnourished mammal was first spotted in the river on Tuesday, around 70km (44 miles) north of Paris.
After failed attempts to encourage it to swim out, the animal remains stuck and scientists worry for its health. So far rescuers have offered up frozen herring and live trout for the four-metre whale to eat, but a local official in Eure, Isabelle Dorliat-Pouzet, said the animal did not appear to have accepted either.
"It's quite emaciated and seems to be having trouble eating," AFP quoted her as saying on Saturday.
Authorities hope that injecting the stranded animal with vitamins will stimulate its appetite and help it to make the long 160km (100 mile) return journey back up the river and out to the English Channel, where it can swim back to its Arctic habitat.
Another option being considered is to remove the whale from the river entirely, but this would require the mammal having enough strength to survive an even riskier journey.

And from there, on to a Parisian abattoir, and then onto the plates of French diners.as the four-metre (13ft) mammal was being moved in a refrigerated truck.
One seemingly lost Greenland shark turned up off the coast of Belize in Central America while a team of researchers were out on a boat catching and tagging tiger sharks.
"I knew it was something unusual and so did the fishers, who hadn’t ever seen anything quite like it in all their combined years of fishing.”
Kasana took a photo of the enigmatic animal and sent it to her advisor, who said it appeared to be a Greenland shark, which was soon confirmed by experts on the specific species.
Maybe it was on holiday?Greenland shark found off coast of Belize
Yes that's probably it.Maybe it was on holiday?
This photograph should be circulated around Britain as a reference for how an actual large, exotic cat unexpectedly seen at a distance should appear. Perhaps we'll get fewer moggie pics.Didn't know if this belonged in the alien big cat thread or here. This animal is certainly out of place in Michigan. A mountain lion would not be extraordinary but a black one would be. This is a very good photo.

That might help, although I fear they'll just use it to knock ornaments off the mantlepiece and prod us to get their food.To be fair, without something to use for reference it is very difficult to judge the size of all sorts of things at a distance.
Cats should be forced to carry a 1 metre steel rule around with them everywhere.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-08...n-farm-victoria-long-way-from-beach/101345104An elderly fur seal that was discovered on a dairy farm about 35 kilometres from the nearest beach has been euthanased.
The seal was first spotted on a property at Simpson, in south-west Victoria, on Sunday in the middle of a cow paddock.
Melbourne Zoo's Marine Response Unit was sent to the scene today as the Australian fur seal continued to travel across farmland away from the ocean.
Melbourne Zoo head veterinarian Michael Lynch said the plan had been to determine the next steps to appropriately care for the animal.
"Today's intervention was required after the seal failed to find a way back to the open ocean along the same path it used to arrive at the farm," Dr Lynch said.

Sept. 22 (UPI) -- A Central Florida family captured video when they had an unusual visitor -- a large monitor lizard climbing on a window.
Jocelyn Penson, who posted the video to Facebook, said the footage was filmed at the home of her son, Frank Crowder, in Apopka, Fla.
Schoolgirl Cia Christie, 13, filmed the cheeky marsupial jumping around outside her home on Wednesday (19/10) morning.
That UPI link seems to be almost wholly devoted to out of place animals! Poor things!Very large (3-5 feet) monitor lizard in Florida:

Once sedated, the wallaby was checked for life-threatening injuries and deemed fit for transport to the veterinary practice in Birtley.
Choppy received a full assessment including X-rays, which fortunately showed no fractures.
But the animal had sustained swelling and bruising to its head, with bone exposed on its nose.
The wound was cleaned and successfully sutured under general anaesthetic.
Choppy was then transported to Northumberland College Zoo at Kirkley Hall, where teams will monitor it closely before integrating it with the two resident females already on site.
