People Who Feel Wrong

A bit unfair to say the RSPCA do sod all. It sounds like they investigated and kept you updated. Not bad for a charity who were presented with no evidence other than a verbal report.
Well to some extent, I totally get that. But... I think it's a worrying road we're going down if we no longer believe anyone's word without video evidence. Sometimes (as we know from our paranormal happenings) things occur too fast to be caught on film. That doesn't mean they nver happened and maybe in the case of somehting extreme, like cruelty - a witness's word should be given a bit more weight.

I do get that with no proof it was difficult. But what's the point of the RSPCA existing if the only things they can pursue are when something is filmed? That leaves a lot of animals in potential danger and distress.

This happened to me about 40 years ago, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and it still give me a chill when I think about it.

A bit of background first, at that time, in Belfast, we had old knackered taxis sent over from London that just followed the bus routes, they were owned and operated privately and you just flagged one down at a bus stop and basically paid per bus stop, you would just share the taxi with existing passengers, if that makes sense.

Anyway, I flagged this taxi down, I didn’t usually use them as it was widely believed that they were controlled by various paramilitary factions, but I was in a hurry and had missed the bus.

Got in and sat in the back seat, taxi pulled away.

Opposite me, in the seat that backed on to the driver, was this guy, man, that immediately gave me the creeps, he just did not seem right, that’s putting it mildly, he was so wrong.

Imagine Mr Punch, from Punch and Judy, this man had the exagerated face of Mr Punch, his nose visibly curved down and his chin curved up, I don’t mean a little, I mean a lot! He was very thin, gaunt, very well dressed in an almost old fashioned pinstripe suit, shirt and tie, his legs were crossed and he was sitting back in the seat looking out the window, his hands were rested one on top of the other on his knee, very relaxed.

On his right hand he wore a ring, and that ring was a face, his Mr Punch face!

He never looked at me or seemed to be aware of me in any way, and I got no feeling of evil or malevolence from him but he just felt so terribly, fundamentally wrong, I asked the driver to let me off at the next bus stop and I walked into town, the experience unsettled me for a long time and the only other person I’ve told about Mr Punch is my brother. I sometimes worry that I’ll see him again, and I’m a 56 year old guy!

Yes Mythopoeika, i see what you mean, but in this case no, at the time my grandmother was living with us, so i was familiar with the look of someone who had no teeth, that pursed out lip thing, this character had a normal looking mouth, very thin lips in a kind of contented, self satisfied smile.

Hi, yes henry, the ring looked just like his face, and no the driver didnt acknowledge him in any way, but then i wouldnt have expected him to, these weren't your average chatty taxi drivers, and Mr Punch was sitting with his back to the driver.

its always helpful if these odd characters can be sketched out ... seems to fit that he was in the cab alone before you got in, but had chosen a seat out of view of the drivers rear mirror, to his face could not be seen

long term absence of teeth/gums as above does turn the mandibles in not out, so would give effect you saw but probably not to the extent ... what else was going on, ears, complexion etc

Sounds like a description of the late Jim Molyneaux MP.

Hi henry, as to ears, complexion etc, i cant honestly remember, it was a long time ago and i didn't really spend much time looking at him, though i had the impression of a man in his 50's maybe, an older guy anyway, to be honest i do remember being concerned he'd look at me and acknowledge me in some way, i just got out asap.

Maybe he was an impersonater of Mr Punch, a specialised adult version, *coughs*

Morning Blunderman, that sounded bloody scary!!!! Glad you didn't see him again. Do you think he was a paramilitary member, like you mentioned in your story, in disguise to scare someone off?

I know a lot of people with no teeth (where I live, people tended to get all their teeth taken out quite young to avoid later dental problems). The 'pursed out' look tends to come with dentures that don't fit very well, those who've had their teeth taken out in their twenties have such a loss of bone that their skin falls in, causing a very pronounced jawline which does look very 'Mr Punch' like. I know a lady who is large of hooter, and her lack of teeth does give her a certain 'Punchesque' look.

If your man was very thin, the look may be more pronounced. But it sounds scary, whatever (I am slightly afraid of people with no teeth for no reason I can adequately explain).

At the shopping centre as I was walking away after food shopping I saw these two women.
One seemed to be the mother of the other. They had really long flexible type necks with smallish oval type heads and very dark looking eyes.
The skin was white but not wrinkled at all and the way they moved their heads when they were looking around seemed very unusual.
I live in a high migrant area but I have never seen anyone who looks remotely like them.
I suppose it was probably some genetic condition but I felt very uneasy.

I'm not saying they were aliens... but they were aliens.

I get that, Carlos, but also... where does that leave the average person who sees and reports something, if they will only now act with physical proof on the animal's body or footage of the incident? That leaves people who might want or need to report cruelty, in a bad place...

I've seen a lot of bad shit in my life - like most of us who have lived a few decades, I guess - but that dog kicking thing seriously left me with PTSD - and there's no redress for that, as well as a horrible feeling that what's the point of reporting if you risk being seen as harrassing someone, and you end up the one in trouble when all you did was look out your own window one morning?

It's a horrible feeling. Worse still, I could tell from the conversation I had on the phone with the Inspector, afterwards, that she believed me. I'm a credible witness, I'd have thought. Now, if you have to film something or it didn't happen - how many people are going to report what they see, if they know it will lead nowhere?

A visit from the RSPCA didn't make these people change their behaviours, anyway.

Hi I am new to posting although I have lurked for almost twenty years so I hope this is the right place to put this. When I was a newlywed my husband and I lived in a small apartment and were having problems with our air conditioning. A man was sent to fix it and he felt all wrong. I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt when I first meet them but this man struck me as threatening from the moment I met him at the door. I was home alone and was dressed for work when he came and I remember opening the door and leaving it opened wide when he came in. He didn’t look strange or anything, he was tall, of average build, and came accompanied with his tools like any repairman but as he made small talk all I could think was where the knives were in the kitchen and of my husband’s handgun in the bedroom. (I don’t like guns and I had only shot one once before but I thought if I have to defend myself I will). He worked on the unit while I stayed in the living room thinking of self-defense and then he left. I was shaken by the whole experience it was as if the whole time he was there I was in the presence of someone who would harm me. That was over 20 years ago but I have never had an experience like that since—the man exuded menace.

I had a job interview by a group of people.
One of them was a woman who would ask me questions and interrupt my answers.
She "grilled" me, and I remember getting home feeling excessively tired and drained.

I was offered the job and took it, against my instincts.

Sure enough, she was my boss and was not fun to work for.
She would make a bit of chit chat but seemed irked if I would say anything other than a short direct answer to her questions.
If I made a bit of social chat she got visibly disgruntled and ended the conversation.
She would give me "dirty looks" and there was generally a cold vibe around her.

She was not nice to work for, extremely pedantic, to the point it hindered my work.

I resigned a few months into the job, with that having played a large part in my resignation.

I subsequently met someone who had been interviewed for a different job role but at the same place, who told me that they had been so unsettled by that same woman in their first interview, they had declined an offer to attend a second interview.

Strange isn't it how our very first impressions of a total stranger, without knowing them, can be absolutely correct? Of course it works in the opposite case as well, when you come across someone who feels absolutely "right".

I sympathise with the interview experience. The same thing happened to me years ago. I took an offered job much against my better instincts, but needs must at the time. Boss awful and a dreadful job. Ms Petes had the same experience recently with a boss exactly as you described, again the relationship lasted a few months. Glad I don't have to put up with these characters any longer!

I remember seeing one of those misery-porn documentaries, probably Channel 5, years ago, where one of the subjects was a young woman who had a serious "Mr Punch" face, a hooked nose and curving chin. From the side, she looked like a crescent moon, and had suffered all the insults and abuse you may expect, all her life.

She was definitely sinister-looking, but, as you may have guessed, in contrast to her appearance, she was a sweetie, remained upbeat, positive, and IIRC was working with children suffering from facial deformity - despite scaring a few of them. I can't recall if she'd suffered an injury, but seem to think it was a birth defect and was getting more pronounced as she aged.
Once again, it was years ago, but I can't remember if she was just "looking for love" or had a camera crew in tow as she prepared for some "life-changing" remedial surgery (or the first of many ops).

Anyway, she seemed to have no self-pity, despite being...well, not easy on the eye. She wasn't like some unfortunate individuals with huge tumorous faces or growth conditions - any civilised person can see they have a problem and will quietly absorb the shock of their appearance (at least, I hope they would, although I know I'm being overly-optimistic).
No, she had the kind of face that brought about instant recoil and a sharp intake of breath. Probably a primal reaction, perhaps she looked like a classic "hag", somebody evil or monstrous? She wasn't mentally handicapped, was otherwise a normal young blonde woman - but with no friends, no lover, and, up to the point some surgeon rocked up and promised to change her face, not much hope.
I'm a big rough tough-guy, take the piss out of everyone and have no pity for anyone...and it was probably a piece of dust or something in my eye that made it water. Yeah, that.

I have had a cursory search to see if I can find the programme details, but I have no idea how many years ago it was, and these things are ten-a-penny nowadays. Anyone else remember it?
I hope she found some normality in her life...

Couple of weeks back, my teenager used his iPhone when I was out, to record the neighbours aforementioned, when we went out. It was all kicking off, and he could hear their kids screaming and sounding distressed, and he couldn't quite tell what was happening. Turns out if you prop an iPhone against a wall and the neighbours are kicking off - you get a pretty good recording of what they're doing. This neighbour I mentioned above on the thread, the one who makes the air round him seem to pulsate - a feeling a bit like vertigo - when he appears outside the house - was hitting his kid. She was screaming and he threatened to "give you another one" - apparently she wasn't doing something quick enough. He called the child (about 6 or 7) a shit, shithead and bastard and was threatening to hit her again when my son recorded it.

We immediately sent recording to social care, and then told the coppers, and the council - whose tenants they are. We're told they are now being investigated but that is all we know. Social workers came out but he chased them away, screaming abuse about his fab parenting skills. No sign of them returning yet and the kids are still in the house, incredibly, despite social services now having a clear recording of him hitting a child. I guess the wheels grind slow. But at least we are, finally, believed as the recording my son got was so clear an unequivocal, no-one can make excuses for them, any more.

Maybe they shoulda listened to me re. the dog kicking, after all. Since then it's really gone up a notch as because we dobbed him in, he is now ranting day and night about us (have been recording it for council and the police). Last week he was stood in the front garden shouting "Bastards!" at our house. You actually feel a palpable - hard to describe - but like a change in air pressure if you see him about. His wife the same. And some of the stuff the recording's have picked up make your blood run cold. Total psychopaths. We knew they were bad but - not this bad. I played this recording to a copper last week, and even he said it was shocking.

Speaking to our fairly new neighbour the other side, as we thought she might be wondering about the police presences at 2AM (2 arrests of the woman next door for drunk and disorderly in the past 3 weeks), this lovely new neighbour lady said the moment she spoke to him she thought "Abuser". Just something about him. He is all over her like a rash, as well - presumably trying to work on some positive character witnesses if anything comes to court. She told my husband she finds this man chilling. I'm certain the For Sale sign will be going up her side, soon. So it's not just me that clocked that something is badly wrong with these people.

I have never picked up this weird, staticky feeling around anyone else, in my life. Just this pair.

Saw this video the other day, and there is someone with the sunken teeth, Mr Punch look at 2.40-2.50ish. Video covers banned documentaries, so some controversial content. The part I referenced above is from a doc looking at I'll practices in the Bridgewater State hospital (assuming the clips are from the documentaries stated)

Edit: or indeed just look at the thumbnail!

@ghostinthemachine

Take care when you leave the house, and get one of those letterbox guards too.
This man sounds very wrong.

Once an argumentative couple moved into my flats.
Soon after I asked th eman to move his car one foot as it was overlapping a driveway and I needed to get past.
Instead of apologising he became aggressive.
Two weeks later he and his friend saw me at a bus stop and walked up to me, then walked away, as if to challenge me.
Every time I saw the couple in the street they would be arguing, screaming at each other.

Thank G-D they moved out after six months...there was something wrong with them and their chemistry.
I got the impression they were a couple who had sex a few times as teenagers, a child resulted, and so they stayed together because of the child rather than any love for each other.
