Spanish phone booth takes finger hostage in the name of security

MADRID (AFP) - A young woman's middle finger was jammed in a Madrid telephone booth for two and a half hours when the unit's security system backfired, Spanish firefighters said.

The public booth's anti-theft system was activated when the woman attempted to recuperate 1.50 Euros (1.80 dollars) swallowed up by the machine after she made a phone call late Saturday.

Firefighters had to dismantle the steel telephone and then saw it to pieces to free the finger of the 18-year-old woman, who was not seriously injured but intends to file a complaint against the telephone company.

I love the photo Yahoo have chosen to accompany that article. What did they have to do, knock the building down to get her finger out? Or did they only have one photo of 'Spanish firefighters'? :)
