In my innocence I only actually found out what '
slashfic' was through posts on this forum.

I know very well that there was life and, indeed, 'fandom' (I hate that term) before the Internet, but I find it hard to square the irrefutable fact that this kind of material emerged in a very offline late-70s.
It just seems so quintessentially 'web'.
Something about the 'distance' and anonymity granted by screens and pixels; can you imagine yourself actually hammering away at a typewriter or taking pen to paper and producing a line about Spock gushing seed into Kirk or somesuch?
And yet it happened!
