Seeing Through Closed Eyelids

It did happen one further time but since moving from that very disturbed property, it has not happened again.

Welcome aboard. You're going to have to spill the beans on why you describd the place as a 'very disturbed property'.

It's a bit different but this all reminds me of a time I was watching something subtitled on the tv, probably one of those BBC4 crime series. But I was really tired and wanted to close my eyes. (Sometimes I think, yeah if i just close my eyes for a bit I can still listen to the programme - of course i immediately drop off to sleep). And this time it would be really stupid because I wouldn't be able to read the subtitles. Of course I drifted off. But when I bobbed back up into a decent level of consciousness, I realised that my brain (keen to watch the programme) had been giving me some sort of auditory translation of the Swedish (or whateveritwas) dialogue. Utter nonsense of course, and I don't suppose it was much to do with the storyline. But I distinctly remember coming-to thinking that I'd been lying there listening to the story in English with my eyes closed.

Ah that half-asleep half-awake state. I'm sure it's responsible for a good percentage of fortean weirdness.

I always remember the time when I'd gone to bed but my OH was still out on the town somewhere, and when I heard him at the front door, I woke up (a bit) and went to greet him, thinking that I was letting him and myself in at the door. That was a bit odd.

Are you sure you weren't making an accurate translation of the language you were hearing?

I ask because there's been a number of times that a person has asked me a question in Spanish and I automatically answered in English, and I'd realize a moment later that I'd just automatically translated to English without thinking. Similar happens when I read German newspapers, after a bit I forget it's not English. Even though I'm not very good at either language, the understanding just kind of shows up, due to having heard them often enough.

Maybe something similar happened here?

I have a colleague whose first language is Spanish. One day I proudly presented her with a Spanish magazine to read on her break.
She settled down with it but didn't seem impressed, which disappointed me a little as I once lived in a country where my own language was practically unavailable. Back then I'd've killed for a Take a Break! :D

She had of course not noticed it was Spanish and had nearly finished it before the peseta dropped. I'll let her off, she was pregnant and tired.

That would have been lovely but sadly I have precisely zero foreign language skills. Unless my subconscious mind is cruelly deceiving me, and secretly can understand a variety of them. I'm going to have to have words with it if so.

And that reminds me of those people who've had an Incident and then wind up apparently able to talk another language, or at least develop a peculiar accent. That's a whole other thread though.

My experience with closed eye seeing is a bit different. It started several years ago. I was intensively meditating and practicing astral projection listening to my favorite music. (At the time of the incident it was a song called son of the staves of time from therion) but it was a long 8 hours meditation session. I was actively trying to break the chains of Prometheus, Minerva or Karma. Depending on how you call them. I was alone in the room and I saw my hand and the room but I was sure that my eyes were closed. I moved my fingers to my eyes and touched my eyelids able to still see my fingertip. One of my teachers told me I succeeded in astral projection. I have my doubts, cause if I did I would supposedly be able to move on my astral body but I was trapped in my flesh. Since I am able to see auras easily at this state I theorize that instead of moving to my astral body I move to my ethereal body. During the exercise, I forcibly projected my field of vision behind a blue/green circle that I could see when meditating.
In that period I was trying the second exercise, to keep a clear mind and maintain meditation state constantly. When I succeeded in the second a most unwelcome occurrence happened. I could/can always see with my eyes closed. Even my doctor can't explain it. Apparently, I can see even when I physically hold my own eyelids down with my hand. This was quite annoying since for a period I could not sleep since I could not stop seeing. In order to fix that I did a self-hypnosis spell agreeing with my ethereal? body to close its eyes when I lower my hand in front of them in a gesture to close.
I even had a field of vision examination with both my eyes closed. Apparently is a two eyes field of vision rather than a 3rd eye field of vision, which reinforces my theory is an ethereal body rather than a third eye opening. nvm the fact that I can open or close them 1/4 actually...
For me now seeing with my eyes closed is normal. even typing this my eyes are closed, sometimes I cannot even tell.

Strange visual occurrences for me now, again during meditation, was when I was one time able to also open my astral? eyes. I could then see through 6 eyes making my brain unable to process the information and therefore my vision was split into 6. I don't remember the exercise I was doing when that happened so it only happened once.
Other times I am able to see through my hand, or through solid objects, but usually, I panic and it stops fast.
Other times I see the cellular structure of my eyelid? having seen through microscopes those are definitely cells.

Also, people tell me that my fortune telling is quite accurate... though since I don't like fortune telling I prefer to not practice it much. I do get visions of my future, that are frighteningly accurate, sometimes showing things that happen years later. Like seeing places I will be before I ever go there. Also, I dream of myself being a different gender, mostly the same woman each time but lately I seem to see dreams of me being another person too. I even dreamed of my present self as I am now going back and talking to me when I was 11 ( those are signs of 3rd eye awakening) However, I still can't do astral projection :(. (those dreams are not lucid). also, I can see my own astral body from outside my body the few times I do project. Most annoying is that I can control everything in the dream, even destroyed the earth in one of them (I was falling and did not want the impact)... but I cannot control the actions of my own astral self. (who is btw an annoying d... that beats people up, gets into fights and does things I don't want him to do)

To be honest, I have no idea what to make of those experiences. I never was in an organized learning society for psychics so I can't really say of their significance. Am I awakened? are those kudalini powers? Did I fail and split my soul? (I remember that I once saw 2 copies of me in a dream at the same time) Or am I possessed and that is a ghost that lives inside me? The fact that I sometimes move against my will kind of reinforces that but it is also mentioned as kudalini awakening. I am trying to keep objective approach for those so I love experimenting with them. But because of that, I have no guidance or focus. Nevermind that this raises more questions than answers. Eg why do I see better with my glasses when my eyes are closed? makes no sense, my explanation is that in order to avoid causing me headaches (which really troubled me during high school) my ethereal self, learned to adjust its vision to match my normal eyesight (but this contradicts the awakening idea since it means I could always see like that ever before awakening provided I ever did that). Why do I need to see through my body if my mind can see without eyes? the fact that I sometimes see through walls reinforces the idea I can project my vision outside myself. (which is the current excersize I do)

Hello All,

I have experienced "seeing through closed eyelids" many times, but unlike your occasions mine are very scary and I always see or feel another presence in the room with me.

This happened to me last night. It's very scary and I think I freaked my boyfriend out telling him about it.

Here's what happened.....so I am fully awake in the "dream". I can see everything around me in real time, the light in the room is on. I am lying in my bed and all the sudden I am raised up a little off of the bed, floating in the air. Something grabs my arm very tight - I can see the imprints of the fingers in my arm. I start to scream for help...while I am screaming for help - it takes my voice and I am left screaming but nothing is coming out. At this point, I am being held down by something and fighting hard to break free and screaming at the same time. Then I see the bedroom door , that is closed mind you, start shaking like something is trying to get in....then it tries to come though the wall and the wall moves and bends like putty and I can see the impression of its body...at that time the grip on my arm falls like I've been dropped and I am finally able to come out of it and 'wake up"....

I have had many of these experiences and I do not like them at all! I usually can't go back to sleep for a while and I always pray off bad spirits afterwards...

I interpret this as being locked inside like a spiritual realm. I don't have any other explanation for it.

I had a similar experience back 10 years ago. I was studying for my finals and I guess I was half asleep but still aware. Then suddenly the sheets started moving on their own. They wrapped themselves around my neck and started to choke me. A voice, which I automatically supposed it was the devil since back then I was much more religious doing regular prayers whenever I had free time, laughed at me and told me. I got you now! and I will kill you!. I was paralysed by fear and I could hardly move let alone resist. Using all my power I did the sign of the cross but because I could not move properly I failed doing it. instead my hand flayed wildly in a move that was cross like. Then he said to me. Why would He help you? you can't even do your cross right. Then I answered I failed to do it properly cause you did not let me. But my faith granted me strength and I will now properly do the cross and you disappear. I did the cross and the sheets fell down and he did disappeared. I had to fight with spirits like him several times. The scariest of them is Bazebul. The lord of insects. you don't immediately understand that he is a devil since he comes at the form of insects and not once have I realised it fast enough to do my cross before he assailed me.
That being said the sign of the cross (at least the orthodox sign of the cross) is a very powerful countermeasure in those cases, ( since I am not Catholic I can't vouch for that sign but I would suggest it as first defence) as well as the prayer Kyrie eleyson or whatever the Catholics chant. However since I do not know your religion I will add other other measures. Classical astral shields work particularly well before meditation or sleep. Envision the room you are in covered in light I like to imagine a liquid light covering every part of the room and the house I am in. Demons and devils are especially afraid of fire. If you imagine the room on fire or flames surrounding you they will vanish (according to the key of solomon writing the name of the devil on a piece of paper and burning it also makes the said spirit panic, but I would stay clear of solomon's spells unless you intend to do some reading on them) In the Astral plane where the spirits duels you are extremely powerful. If it is a dream you created it and you are literally god in that dream. if you are conscious you will realise that all your thoughts materialise in the dream. Arm your self. throw a fireball at it, shoot light or bullets from your fingers, whatever works better for you. Or just wish them away. There was only once I was attacked by something that did not run at the sign of the cross. and I had to employ other Technics, but that might had been another astral projecting human that stole into my dream to attack me. Though I don't want to trouble you with that magic atm.
Shinduists (japanese people) clap their hands saying the sound scares them away, I do that before meditation it might be working but I am also using a mandra ΑΩ (the name of God in the greek translation) so I don't know what of the 2 is the real protection.
Gnostics suggest calling your guide. That is actually a spell similar to expecto patronum from harry potter. You envision your animal guide call it in the room and ask it to keep other spirits away.
New age suggest asking an angel to help you. that is also very effective.
Hinduists suggest the mandra Ohm mani padme hum arima virma yedi... Can't really vouch for that since I am not sure what it means(and diferent translators say different things, The first translation I read said it means God who you are everywhere come to me too) ... if your hindu is good it might be a solution
In either case remember it is your dream, things in your dream are yours as well as the dream itself, even if its an outsider of the dream and not your own fear it is at disadvantage cause you can literally do everything the wizards do in the movies and more in it. That is also the main reason they try to paralyse you with fear. Cause if you react they stand no chance.

This is a very interesting post, Pornokastoras. I don't doubt that meditation opens a world of strange experiences that we (I say we, I mean 'regular western thought') don't know how to describe or understand very well. It's fascinating to read your post. I have only dipped a toe into meditation.

But there is something you do say that is easily testable:
I could/can always see with my eyes closed. Even my doctor can't explain it. Apparently, I can see even when I physically hold my own eyelids down with my hand. This was quite annoying since for a period I could not sleep since I could not stop seeing.

Do you mean you can literally see with your eyes closed? That is, if I brought a piece of paper with something written on it, or an object previously unknown to you, in front of your closed eyes - that you could tell me what was there? Have you ever tried to do that in a spirit of experimentation?

Or that you have an extremely good 'mind's eye' and can recreate in hi-definition detail what was in front of you when your eyes were open?

Or do you mean something more metaphorical?

No I mean I literally see with my eyes closed. Nothing philosophical or metaphorical on it. yes, I would be able to read a paper you wrote with my eyes closed. In fact, I read books with my eyes closed, books I never read before (having photographic memory would be neat but I dont have that) walk on the street like that. Write on the pc or do what I normally do. As I said I cannot tell the difference normally. I only notice when I actually want to close my eyes and I close them and still see.

But - you obviously know that most people will say "that's not possible"? So would you feel that you wanted to / need to prove it to them? Or would maybe the fact you haven't smashed your teeth falling off a pavement be sufficient :)

Some version of blindsight, perhaps?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blindsight

Maybe enhanced through meditation? My own experiences of seeing through closed eyelids were during meditation as well, though it only happened a couple of times.

Funny you mention that... I almost smashed my teeth after changing my glasses. And my eyes were totally open all 4 of them. But my doctor added astigmatism on my glasses so my center of balance went off 30 cm.
Jokes aside... probably would not care enough to prove it. The persons that matter to me know I can do that. And I even taught my best friend to do that... and he has trouble believing it himself despite the fact. HE CAN FREAKING DO IT. :banghead:
But I guess I had trouble believing it myself. There was a time I needed others to believe me cause I could not believe I was doing it myself. Skepticism is a form of mental retardation.
Sorry to disappoint you like that. But I have tried convincing others in the past. If you really need some short of proof cause it would help you in your own path pm me if that is possible here and maybe I can arrange something for you. But keep in mind... I don't intend to try.

Does not seem like blindsight... no, I see things with color and everything. I do get some sort of warning when something invisible like a hostile spirit is around me that sounds like blindsight. Yeah, I understand is hard to believe. It took myself 4 years to do so and I was even suffering cause of it.

Hmmm.
If I disagree with that highly contentious statement, you might say 'voila!' and point out that I'm mentally retarded. :p
