I'm still astounded that people are out there collecting used sneakers. For hundreds if not thousands of dollars! I mean, I buy old used comics, so I understand the collector's mentality, but shoes are merely means to an end to me... a fascinating fandom though, to be sure!

Whatever floats your boat I suppose.
As in collecting all things, no matter what they may be, I feel it's part desire to own something unique, something rare, something special or desirable. Sometimes an item is genuine memorabilia of a time or event or a personal belonging of someone who was there (as above)
Plenty of us here have collection that may be looked upon as odd to the outside world, may even to each other.
Plus, we all need a hobby.
