I don't know if TfL had any say in these books.

My suggestions would be to ask:

The authors through Twitter/Facebook,
Contact the publisher.
Contact the London Underground Museum.
Contact their press office.

the job is already in hand. I just thought it'd be quicker if someone with the books might peruse the acknowledgements section for me.

Mind you I swear the millennium was five minutes ago. I think it’s called getting old. :chuckle:
There are pages and pages of memes about this. :chuckle:

1990-will-always-be-10-years-ago-Dmn20.jpg

Perhaps we need a thread about it - How We Personally Measure Time.

Always catch myself thinking something similar. I read about something happening 25 years ago and think 1975, but it is in 1995/96.
There's something similar in ages - my brother's friend (whom I saw most of when he was about eight or nine) will eternally be about eight in my head. Every time I saw him recently I would get this awful form of cognitive dissonance when he was an eight year old boy in my head and a bald man of fifty six in reality.

And my daughter was born in 1990 which is the only way I can recognise it as 31 years ago.

Has there ever been any unexplained phenomenon related to this disaster?
Somewhere - possibly on here - I remember reading about a policeman, probably a British transport policeman, passing through part of King's Cross underground station and witnessing a whole pile of mechanical activity going on. Possibly the old ticket gates turning over?

Still find it poignant that it took 17 years to identify the 31st victim - presumably some-one out there was missing him.

One of the ghosts in the 'Ghosts on the Underground' vid seems to be fairly easy to explain.
Starting at 02:00 there is an account of a person caught on CCTV who could not be found by an on-the-spot eye witness, although he later saw a set of empty protective overalls lying on a bench.

It seems entirely possible that these empty overalls were lying on the bench at the right angle to look like an intruder as seen through the video camera, but when the witness went there in person they were looking at a different angle, and didn't notice them at first because they were looking for a standing figure.

I've got no ideas about the other reports, however.

There are quite a few podcasts exploring the ghosts of the underground if you have a trawl through.

Crossrail aka The Elizabeth Line is due to open soon.
Over the last 12 years, this mammoth engineering and tunnelling project - one of the largest in Europe, has ploughed through Mesolithic sites, Roman ruins and at least one plague pit.
The line also has a hub connection at Farringdon - one of the oldest and allegedly most haunted of London's underground stations.
Back in 2018 a man on a LBC phone-in, after reporting his experience on the haunted M6 motorway, warned that disturbing all those human remains will likely result in hauntings along the new line.
So, watch this space for reports of ghostly activity in the new tunnels and trains.

Any idea what/where the M6 ghost was?

He saw a Victorian party of people walking by the road. Lead by a lady with a parasol who seemed to be giving the orders. The road by the motorway was rough but they were walking as if it were smooth. He even painted it some time later. View attachment 51853
Fascinating…! Any idea of the location/junction?

My eldest is a train driver who is employed on the Elizabeth line. They are currently testing the trains in readiness of the launch, so no passengers, quiet stations. If he sees something he will be off, he doesn’t do the paranormal, horror films or death in any way shape or form. If he saw a ghost he would be down to Tesco to apply for a job in the veg stacking dep’t.

It was M4 junction 15-16. There was what seemed to be the foundations of a bridge being built and that’s why it was so rough and wouldn’t work if people were filming anything. That and the car noise.
Thank you.

So you could argue it is another case of the paranormal being witnessed in a liminal location, that is the bridge being in the process of being built causing the location to be in a state of change.

A lot of drivers must have been in the vicinity, so any other witnesses or drivers slowing down for a closer look?

At first I was impressed by this idea of liminal locations, but it has worn thin... just about anywhere can be described as liminal if you put your mind to it.

I don’t think so. Dad was a passenger so he had a chance to look. Drivers were probably too busy keeping their eyes on the road. So my mum was oblivious.

I‘m looking at M4 J16 on Google maps now, it looks to me as if new over bridges have been constructed not so long ago. Otherwise, to the South it is open countryside that in parts may have been relatively unchanged for centuries. To the North is Swindon, but again the buildings near the M4 are relatively new. The GWR passes close by.

I wonder if there were any grand estates along there.
