yeah seemed a bit cliché, oh he grew up to be a ninja? lol...it looks like the next ep will be like one of those holodeck eps but on lsd.

freecloud sounds like the casino planet from star wars, it's almost like we've see this stuff before, like the romulan ninja, wasn't he in lord of the rings ?

He doesn't look like Legolas, he looks like an extra in a kung fu movie. Which is worse.

yeah but that's the first thing that came to mind when i watched the episode. seven at the end was cool though as was the old bop.

just wished they flashback to the romulan supernova so we could see what actually happened.

They showed that in the Abrams movie. Spock on a spacebike.

Jeri Ryan still looks the part though doesn't she?
Loving the gradual reveal and oodles of earlier ST nostalgia.
Not absolutely sure I can buy the Romulan samurai thing though.
Romulan? He's an Elf. He even has an Elven name.

Plus he's half-Maori, which I think counts double.

Actually, the actor is from Melbourne and is half-Maori half-Cypriot. The only way he could be more Melbournian is if he's also a barista.

Do you know? This was a lot better this week, best episode so far. I checked the writer and it was Kirsten Beyer who writes ST: Voyager fiction, which explains why Seven was so well used. And jokes! Funny jokes too, loved Picard's outrageous French accent. Proper twist at the end that's nothing to do with decades of crushing continuity. Let's hope they've turned a corner.

To me it just seemed a misjudged episode. This is Star Trek, not Firefly.

It did remind me of the Rick and Morty episode where they pointed out how hacky heist plots were, but Firefly was great, I wouldn't mind STP going in that direction at all.

Strong episode. Great to see "Locutus" coming home for a grand reunion and now that some pretences have been dropped, the plot lines are free to start accelerating.

I dunno, it was back to being a bit boring again, for me. They're really making Picard a confused old man, fair enough, but everyone else is confused as well. None of this has a "big idea" like Trek should, even Discovery aims for that. Also, Harry Treadaway is distractingly reminding me of Alan Bates, who was not very Trek. The whole Soji part of the plot is a dud, unfortunate when everyone's supposed to be obsessed with her.

Oh, and is someone a fan of Hellraiser?!

I wonder if this means he'll be concentrating on his music career...
William Shatner Says His Captain Kirk Days Are Done
MARCH 02, 2020 9:47AM by Ryan Parker

Fans anticipating a character cameo are out of luck, says the 'Star Trek' actor.

Star Trek fans hoping to see William Shatner play Capt. James T. Kirk one more time a la Patrick Stewart reprising his character in Picard are in for a letdown. The actor explained Sunday why he would not do a series like Picard, currently streaming on CBS All Access.

"I think Kirk’s story is pretty well played out at this point," Shatner said on Twitter to one inquiring fan.

He might be concentrating on music more - he certainly has done over the past few years. But he's also about 90 years old and it would be sad to see Kirk doing Steven Seagal-style "sitting down fighting" or whatever.

I could see him doing something like how we saw Janeway in one of the TNG movies. IE a minor character who only shows up on a viewscreen.

Yeah, they did that with Leonard Nimoy in his final appearance. But Kirk has had a death scene, OK, it was rubbish, but he hasn't been seen since, so it seems very final.

Yeah. Kirk was mostly about the fighting and romancing. It would be inappropriate for such an old man to be forced back into such a role.

Oh, I don't know, Kirk could be quite the philosopher when he wanted to be:

But as I say, there was a definite full stop placed on his story.

also in Generations when he waxed philosophical about how much he hated being an admiral?

Nice little tale on the value of friendship this week, but this is seriously going nowhere fast. Not even fast! And poor old Hugh!

Use the Force, Jim!!

Yes. That surprised me.
With just 3 episodes to go, things are going to have to start accelerating if we're going to get a satisfying conclusion.
Still, was great to see Troi and Ryker's domestic paradise.

I see that Whoopi Goldberg's set to return in series two - that should be fun.

On a personal note, Ryker totally reminded me of my late uncle in this episode, so I appreciated that (not that it was intentional on their part). But yeah, I'd say we're slowly building to a cliffhanger to hook us in to season 2.

Well, a bit of progress this week, but all the women in this show seem to be mightily pissed off. Also some very horrible pseudo-Scottishness getting in the way.

I always write off bad accents in sci-fi as not belonging to the world as we know it. Maybe people will talk, like that in 300 years? I have no way to know. :p
