Strange Crimes

https://nos.nl/artikel/2403732-spookrijder-op-a2-in-touringcar-met-tientallen-passagiers

The police in Limburg have arrested a driver who drove his coach against traffic last night on the A2 near Born. The driver is suspected of causing danger on public roads.

There were 51 people in the coach, including children. There was also a trailer behind the bus. A truck driver who saw the coach coming at him was able to swerve just in time, police said.

The coach eventually came to a stop in the left lane of the wrong side of the road. There, the police briefly closed the highway so that the coach could turn around.

There are guardrails between the traffic directions on the A2. How the bus ended up on the wrong side of the road, the police can not yet say. It has also not been disclosed where the bus came from.

Yeah that has happened here in the UK on a few occasions but not with a coach AFAIK.
Usually it's a car being driven by a more senior person who has become confused at a junction and managed to drive down the 'slip road' that is for vehicles leaving the motorway (to be fair, some junctions are badly designed).

But were they finger licking good?

AUtah man was charged with attempted murder and discharge of a firearm, accused of opening fire toward his father during a domestic argument, police said. The topic of that argument? Chicken wings.

Alika Suliafu, 30, was arrested following the October 21 incident in Bountiful, Utah. According to an arrest report, Suliafu's father returned home that day with an order of chicken wings for his son, ABC 4 reported.

"When (Suliafu) discovered the wings were not the variety he liked, he became upset and began to argue," an officer wrote in a probable cause statement.

The dispute escalated, Suliafu went into his bedroom and returned with a gun and, despite his father's pleas, he opened fire, police said. The father was able to dodge the bullet, which traveled through the walls of their apartment and eventually became lodged in a neighbor's dishwasher, police added.

Yup, when a motorway junction near'ere was redesigned a few years ago after decades of chaos there were a few close shaves. There's a mini-roundabout on the approach and the new signage is a little confusing. It's easy to turn the wrong way.

Man dressed as the Joker stabs at least 17 people on Tokyo commuter train

A man in Tokyo dressed as the Joker stabbed passengers aboard a train line, injuring 17 people on their way to Halloween parties in Shinjuku.

iu

The train made an emergency stop around 8 p.m. Sunday night after the 24-year-old man also set a small fire on the train. Police arrested the suspect on the spot and suspended service while they conducted an investigation.

iu

Three people were severely injured, including a man in his 60s who remains in crucial condition.

The suspect wore glasses and a green shirt, but otherwise dressed in the Joker’s signature purple suit. A video posted to social media showed the man sitting alone in a train car, legs crossed, and smoking a cigarette.

Some witnesses thought that the man was part of some Halloween stunt until people started running and the suspect started waving a "long knife" with blood on its blade.

Witnesses also reported the suspect had spread fluid and started a fire, according to Reuters.

The Keio express train made an emergency stop due to the fire.

iu

The suspect reportedly told authorities he "wanted to kill people so he could be sentenced to death."

What I find most outrageous is the initial reaction of the police.

A man has described his shock at returning to his house and finding it stripped of all furnishings after it was sold without his knowledge.

Having been alerted by neighbours, the Reverend Mike Hall drove to Luton and found building work under way and a new owner who said he had bought the house.

A BBC investigation found Mr Hall's identity had been stolen and used to sell the house and bank the proceeds.
Police initially told him it was not fraud but are now investigating.

Mr Hall, who was away from the property and working in north Wales, said he received a call from his neighbours on 20 August, saying that someone was in the house and all the lights were on. The following morning, he drove there.

"I went to the front door, tried my key in the front door, it didn't work and a man opened the front door to me," he told BBC Radio 4's You and Yours. "I pushed him to one side and got in the property. I really didn't know what he was doing there.
"The shock of seeing the house completely stripped of furniture; all furnishings, carpet, curtains - everything - was out of the property."

The man said he was doing building work, to which Mr Hall replied: "I haven't sold the house. This is still my property."
Mr Hall phoned the police, but the builder left and returned with the new owner's father, who said he had bought the terraced house in July, adding: "It is now my property. You are now trespassing. Get out."

Mr Hall said: "We then tried to access the Land Registry documentation online to find out whose name appeared... and it is, in fact, as of 4 August, this man's name.

"At that point the police said, 'Well, there's nothing further we can do here. This is a civil matter; you need to leave the house and contact your solicitors.'"

It’s a bit WTF isn’t it? You wouldn’t think it possible for your house to be ‘sold’ while you’re away. The deeds to the house would either be kept by the real owner or the mortgage provider if he had one. How did the scammer manage to get round this?

You’d think that the money transfer from the fake Rev Mike Hall a/c to the scammer’s a/c would be easily traceable as well..

Indeed. The police just shrugging it off is ludicrous. It is an example of identity theft, fraud and property theft. None of those are civil crimes.

To be fair:

“Mr Hall said: "We then tried to access the Land Registry documentation online to find out whose name appeared... and it is, in fact, as of 4 August, this man's name.

"At that point the police said, 'Well, there's nothing further we can do here. This is a civil matter…”

- which is exactly what l would have said, had l been called to the address and been confronted by two men, one of whom produced the Land Registry records described.

Only later, when ID theft could be demonstrated, did the police take it on board.

But he was already complaining about identity theft or at least fraud, he had informed the police that he hadn't sold the house. Unless the police officer was unusually dim it should have been obvious that a criminal offence was being reported.

Threatening to eat Theresa May as well!

A prisoner already convicted for sending death threats to MPs has been further sentenced for sending more to Jess Phillips.

Rakeem Malik was sentenced in 2020 for threats to the Birmingham Yardley MP plus threatening to bomb Rosie Cooper and eat Theresa May.He was handed a five-year prison sentence which will run consecutively to his existing five-year jail term.

Ms Phillips said she felt resigned to being a target. The letters had been intercepted before reaching her, she said.

"He's a dangerous man," she said. "I feel resigned to the position of somebody who will for the rest of my life receive threats and potentially have those enacted."

So he's serving for prior threats and gets charged with time to be run consecutively with the past convictions?

And this current action has occurred while he's in prison! He's obviously dangerous and prison is no deterence. I too would be worried about my safety once he's released.

It doesn’t read that way.

a) Hall goes to the house because a nabe tells him that there are people working in it.

b) He arrives, is told by the builder that the “owner” has hired him (the builder).

c) Hall phones the police.

d) The builder leaves, and shortly thereafter (presumably) returns with the “new owner’s” father: “…the builder left and returned with the new owner's father, who said he had bought the terraced house in July…”

e) Hall then (presumably) leaves, or waits nearby, while Googling the Land Registry, which records that the house is “owned” by the other fella.

f) The police then inform him that it’s a civil matter, as the other fella has the proof (Land Registry), and it’s Hall’s unsupported word against the man with the written proof.

g) Hall presumably then contacts the BBC and, “A BBC investigation found Mr Hall's identity had been stolen and used to sell the house and bank the proceeds.”

- Which information wasn’t available to the police on initial response.

The facts having come to light, a police investigation is now under way.

'Notary of state attorney's office embezzled 10 million euros'

The chairman of the board of the Hague law firm Pels Rijcken, which has the national government as a client, has kept about ten million unauthorized euros. According to the Financieele Dagblad and NRC, this happened in ten years' time, through a foundation that was set up by the notary himself.

Frank Oranje was a civil-law notary at Pels Rijcken and advised ministers, among others, when they took office, on the unbundling of business interests. Last November, he committed suicide after his office suspended him for a criminal investigation into the fraud.

In 2010, Oranje and two colleagues founded a foundation of which he himself was the sole director. More than a hundred million euros came into the account of that foundation for the settlement of large cases. Especially the settlement of the claim concerning the Swiss insurer Converium earned the notary a lot of money. In that case, according to those involved, nine million euros remained afterwards in the account of his foundation.

"It is baffling, but apparently Oranje saw that as "found money", because no one missed it," says an insider in the Financieele Dagblad.

Why does anyone want to pay 1000 euro (!) for a fake vaccination QR-code if you can get the vaccination for free?

Two doctor's assistants arrested for trafficking in false vaccination certificates
The police have arrested two doctor's assistants on suspicion of trafficking in false vaccination certificates. The two women, aged 30 and 31, were arrested yesterday and today, after the marechaussee had stuled upon the case in an ongoing investigation into drugs. They both worked in a practice in Amsterdam.

The two would have helped dozens of people to get a vaccination certificate, without them having been vaccinated. This earned them between 500 and 1000 euros per vaccination certificate. They advertised the fake receipts online, police say.

In the case of fraud, people without a jab were still entered into the registration system and received a QR code and a completed vaccination passport with the stamp of the doctor's office. The police are trying to find out the buyers of the fake vaccination certificates.

The fake QR code has the initials of the person who 'bought' it and can also be used to travel with it. Recently, GGD employees have also been suspended because they arranged false vaccination certificates for a fee.

Because they don't want to get vaccinated but do want to travel.
I'm vaccinated but don't want to travel because of people like them!
(I'm kind of old and don't want even a mild break-through infection.)

There are many, many men like that who self id their way into women's prisons.

"Scotland has placed twelve violent or sexually offending transgender prisoners in women’s jails over the past year and a half, a Freedom of Information request has revealed.

The biologically male transgender prisoners include only one inmate who has actually completed gender reassignment surgery, while the other eleven have merely self-identified as female.

The director of the Keep Prisons Single Sex campaign group, Dr Kate Coleman, told The Times: “The evidence clearly indicates that where prisoners of the male sex, no matter how they identify, are held in women’s prisons, women in prison are negatively impacted.”

The pitfalls of housing biological males in women’s prisons have been long demonstrated, with then-President of the British Association of Gender Identity Specialists, Dr James Barrett, warning Parliament in 2015 that there is a “plethora of prison intelligence suggesting” that the “driving force” behind male sexual offenders identifying as female was to “make subsequent sexual offending very much easier”."

I think sex offenders remain sex offenders, regardless of gender identification. The person will continue to have violent tendencies as well.

Without getting political, if that person is highly likely to reoffend, then they should be isolated. Paul Bernardo is still, after many years, in isolation - partly for his safety, but he has also been identified as highly likely to reoffend. I would think that if he, for whatever reason, moved to another prison area, he would remain isolated.

Injured after outburst of anger during chemistry class
The police have arrested a 15-year-old student at a secondary school in Schiedam. During a chemistry class, the boy in anger threw bottles filled with chemicals.

Two students got irritations to their eyes, a third attendee suffered a head wound. Later, someone became unwell in the schoolyard.

According to a spokesman for the Rotterdam-Rijnmond Safety Region, the student got into an argument with the teacher, after which he was removed from class, Rijnmond reports. After this, the boy stormed back into class to enter into an altercation with the teacher, which ended in a struggle.

After two teachers came to the aid of their colleague. the other students and the teacher could leave the classroom. The enraged student was locked up in the classroom.

A local police officer managed to calm the boy down through a broken window, after which he could be arrested for vandalism and assault. The school has filed a report.

Ivo Rabanser

The confrontation took place in Selva di val Gardena in the Italian Alps and was the first time the brothers had met since Ivo, now 42, left home at 18 following the death of their father.

[Martin’s lawyer said]: "One theory is that Ivo was angry about the terms of their inheritance from their father, which included the house Martin still lives in, and has been nurturing a grudge ever since.”

Police have discovered the elder brother was sleeping rough in Verona and took on part time work, along with spending time in a local library where he built up an extensive knowledge of literature.

It is now believed that he arrived back to him home town area on a bike and decided to live in the local woods - where he was said to have been watching his brother, who is now a ski resort employee, who lives with his wife and nine-year-old son.

[The lawyer] said: "He waited for night and broke in through the garage wearing camouflage and carrying at least two knives.”

Woman Stabbed Cousin When He Asked Her To Return Borrowed Sex Toy

A dispute over a borrowed sex toy ended with a Kentucky woman stabbing her male cousin with a kitchen knife, according to cops who arrested the alleged assailant on multiple criminal charges.

Police were dispatched late last month to a home in the city of Corbin after the occupant, Crystal Denham, called 911 to report that she had stabbed a relative.

crystaldenham21.jpg

Seen above, the 33-year-old Denham told officers that Michael Barton “had come to her residence and they had gotten into an argument over a sex toy,” according to a court citation. Specifically, Denham added, “she had borrowed it and he wanted it back.”

Sadly, the sex toy in question is not further described in the citation, which identifies Barton as Denham’s “cousin and neighbor.”

Barton, cops report, suffered “three minor cuts” on his arm and back. He confirmed that the pair had “gotten into the argument over the sex toy,” adding that he went to leave when Denham began “acting crazy.”

Denham was charged with felony assault, as well as menacing, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

Metallurgist admits faking steel test results for US Navy subs

A metallurgist in the US state of Washington has pleaded guilty to fraud after she spent decades faking the results of strength tests on steel that was being used to make Navy submarines.
Prosecutors say Elaine Marie Thomas, 67, gave false positive readings for strength and toughness tests in at least 240 cases between 1985 and 2017.
Authorities did not disclose which vessels were affected.
But there was no indication that any submarine hulls had failed.
Ms Thomas, of Auburn, Washington, was the director of metallurgy at a foundry in Tacoma that supplied steel castings used by Navy contractors to make submarine hulls, the US Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington said in a statement.
(Via BBC News)

The odd thing in this is no indication of self-enrichment. She says that she thought some of the tests were unfair and not necessary. No hint of compromised integrity for the boats, just altered parameters for the test.

Most odd.
