I think @maximus otter posted a comment about a guy who complained to him that his landlord was cooking his food in machine oil, maybe he wasn't so crazy.

A man who sold potato chips cooked in dirty oil from a power transformer has been sentenced by a court in Kenya.

Elijah Mwangi Muthoga was arrested just over a year ago in possession of 11 litres of the oil at a hotel he runs in Nyandarua County.

He must now serve a two year prison sentence or pay a fine of 200,000 shillings ($1,570; £1,300).

A harsher sentence of 10 years in prison or a 10m shilling fine was handed to Zachary Mwangi Gitau, the man found guilty of procuring the oil for Muthoga by vandalising a power transformer.

They have found Abby's head and charges have been made.

The ex-husband and former in-laws of Hong Kong socialite Abby Choi have appeared in court after being charged in connection with her murder.

The accused include her ex-husband Alex Kwong, Kwong's brother Anthony and their father Kwong Kau. Kwong's mother, 63, has been charged with obstructing the case. They were all denied bail on Monday.

The 28-year-old was reported missing on Tuesday - the grisly details of her murder have shocked Hong Kong.

This story contains details some readers may find distressing.

Choi's head was found in a three-storey house in the rural Tai Po district on Sunday, days after her other body parts were found in the same location - roughly 27km (17 miles) from where she was last seen in Kowloon City on Tuesday. ...

A meat slicer and an electric saw were also found at the scene.

Another arrest.

A woman accused of assisting a suspect in the gruesome killing and dismemberment of model Abby Choi in Hong Kong has been arrested in mainland China.

The arrest of the 29-year-old woman brought the total number of people allegedly involved in the case to seven.

Police said they suspect she assisted another suspect and then fled to mainland China. She was handed over to Hong Kong authorities at Shenzhen Bay Port on Tuesday.

More cat shavings in Kent

The situation has got so severe that a map has now been created by Medway-based charity Animals Lost and Found.

The animal welfare organisation says it is adding to the map every other day as people report attacks on their pets at an alarming rate.

Incidents have been reported across Kent, from Northfleet down to Dover, with the majority seem to be confined to Medway, and in particular Gillingham, Chatham and Rochester.

Minnesota father allegedly uses moose antler, shovel to fatally beat man he suspected of abusing children, police say

Levi William Axtell, 27, turned himself in to police Wednesday and admitted to killing a 77-year-old man, a criminal complaint states.
A Minnesota father allegedly used a moose antler and a shovel to fatally beat an elderly man he believed was sexually abusing children, a criminal complaint states.

Levi William Axtell, 27, turned himself in to police Wednesday, minutes after he killed a 77-year-old man. Axtell allegedly admitted to the crime, telling detectives that he had known the victim for a long time and "believed him to have sexually offended against children in the past," according to the complaint.

A witness told the Cook County Sheriff's Office that around 5 p.m. Wednesday, a person in a white Dodge Caravan pulled into the driveway of the victim's Grand Marais home, smashed a vehicle and then ran inside the residence, the document says.

The witness heard screams coming from inside the home and saw the driver of the van flee the scene.

Las Vegas man allegedly carjacked and killed man before masking DNA evidence with urine and feces

A Las Vegas, Nevada, man is in custody after allegedly committing a carjacking and killing a man on New Year’s Day, trying to burn the vehicle and pouring urine and feces inside to cover up and mask his DNA, according to reports.

The man who pulled Roy Kridler out of the vehicle was later identified as 25-year-old Chanler McCloud.

As for why he set the vehicle on fire, police said McCloud drove around but could not find bleach to destroy his DNA. Instead, he used a candle to burn the seat before pouring urine and feces to hide and mask the DNA.
