(On a serious note, acid attacks are a vile, vile crime which has become depressingly common in recent years.)

Priest must have had a breakdown to do something so heinous?

A man accused of murder says he no longer believes the murders were carried out by a 620 year old 'jinn' called Robert.

"A man accused of murdering a doctor and her daughter now accepts another person killed them rather than the supernatural spirits he had claimed were responsible, a court has heard.

Shahbaz Khan, 51, told police a 620-year-old "jinn" named Robert had killed Dr Saman Mir Sacharvi, 49, and 14-year-old Vian Mangrio on 30 September 2020.

He told Preston Crown Court he now believed someone entered their Burnley home and killed them.

Mr Khan, of Burnley, denies murder."

Half of a new football pitch worth £50,000 has been stolen.

Derby-based Mickleover FC has been installing a new playing surface - due to be shared with Derby County Women - but 11 rolls yet to be laid were taken overnight.

Director and treasurer Neil Hadfield said the theft was "devastating" but the club would "bounce back".

Derbyshire Police said they were investigating."

Adelaide's 'Big Bird Bandits' appear in court charged with stealing Sesame Street costume

Two men have appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court charged over the theft of a valuable Big Bird costume.

7e5df6104da2f4f06b9591ee9aca3e71

Tasman Binder, 22, and Cody Milne, 26, are accused of stealing the $160,000 costume from the Sesame Street Circus Spectacular at Bonython Park in April.

The pair — from Norwood and Murray Bridge — are charged with theft and unlawfully being on premises.

In court today, a curfew and a ban on the two men contacting each other was removed from their bail conditions, but a ban on them attending the circus remains.

The Big Bird costume was returned a few days after being stolen, along with an apology letter signed by "The Big Bird Bandits".

The note found in the beak of the costume apologised for being "such a big birden".

It said "we had no idea what we were doing, or what our actions would cause".

"We were just having a rough time and were trying to cheer ourselves up,"
it read.

"We had a great time with Mr Bird, he's a great guy and no harm came to our friend
."

The 213cm-tall costume is made from ostrich feathers and was flown from New York to take part in the show.

Mr Milne and Mr Binder will next appear in court in November.

So how did the pair of them get caught?
Please don't tell me they were stupid enough as to leave their full names and addresses on the note, or similar?
And prepare for the puns.
Are they now doing bird (in sing-sing)?
Were they grassed up by a stool-pigeon?
Had they been online and tweeted about their crime?

Separately, they have a somewhat unusual dress-sense, doncha think?

Wirecard is a very intreresting crime. It's the German Enron case:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wirecard

In June 2020, it was revealed that €1.9 billion was "missing". ... A few days later, the management board stated that the €1.9 billion amount likely did not exist.[32] Two banks in the Philippines who were allegedly holding the money said that they did not have the sum and never did.[33] ... A criminal investigation began on 22 June 2020[1] and Wirecard's recently resigned CEO, Markus Braun, was arrested the same day.[35] On 25 June, Wirecard filed for bankruptcy citing "over-indebtedness".[36] ...In September 2020, the German parliament announced that it would organize an inquiry in order to fully investigate the reasons why the government failed to prevent corporate fraud.[38]

And the CFO was helped by the GRU to escape to Russia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Marsalek

Jan Marsalek (also Maršálek, born 15 March 1980 in Vienna) is an Austrian alleged white-collar criminal and former manager, known for his position as board member and chief operating officer of the German payment processing firm Wirecard. He has been a fugitive since June 2020 because of his role in the Wirecard scandal. ... Investigation by Bellingcat, Der Spiegel, and Insider indicated that Marsalek flew to Minsk hours after he was fired.[2] On 19 July 2020, the German Handelsblatt reported that Marsalek was suspected to be in Russia, where he was suspected to live under supervision of the GRU in a mansion near Moscow.[3]

Now there is government report. I downloaded it, expecting a good read. But it's 2026 pages with no discernible summary!
Enjoy:

And there was a court case between the Financial Times and Wirecard:

Wirecard has sued the FT for misuse of trade secrets in Munich relating to stories published in January and February 2019. The FT stands by its reporting and is defending the lawsuit.

What's really bizarre about this is the 14 month sentence.

A beautician terrified tube passengers by brandishing a homemade flamethrower and threatening to set fire to their hair during rush hour.

Paris Bregazzi, 33, was warned by a judge to control her temper after spraying two people in the face with deodorant.

Inner London Crown Court heard Bregazzi has been handed six prison sentences in the last 18 months for violent behaviour. In December last year she was jailed for hitting a disabled woman on the head so hard that she fell onto concrete floor and her rib cage shifted.

She has now been jailed for 14 months for the flame thrower incident in October 2019. Prosecutor Daniel Wright said Bregazzi boarded an overground train at Caledonian Road at around 6pm and began pacing and shouting at people to stop staring at her.

The court heard she had a can of deodorant and a lighter as a make shift flamethrower and said to a female passenger 'I'm going to set your hair on fire'.

Passengers described her producing two foot flames with the items.

She then barged a woman in the shoulder as she got off at Highbury and Islington station before boarding another train and turning her attention to a woman standing by the doors.

She shouted the woman was an 'Asian b*tch' before spraying her in the face with the aerosol can, the court heard.

Bregazzi got off the train at Dalston Kingsland station and a passenger grabbed her as she went to produce more flames from the aerosol can. This woman was then also sprayed in the face with the deodrant, the court heard, and called a 'stupid b*tch' by Bregazzi.

Bregazzi, who is a transgender woman, also suffers from unstable personality disorder, the court heard.

A clip captured on Folkestone Road in Dover, Kent, shows three people, a woman and two men, standing next to a car. At some point, the younger male starts hitting the sport car with a metal wrench

Then, he can be seen hitting the car repeatedly as the other points to some parts of the car, apparently giving him instructions on where to damage it next.

The incident happened at 6.10pm on Friday, June 25, and yesterday a spokesman for Kent Police revealed that the man who handed out the wrench was the owner of the vehicle and that he had consented to the damage.

Mad .. I lived in Mickleover with the ex before we moved to Cromer. It's a tiny place so someone at The Mason's Arms where I worked knows who's done that. Guaranteed.

Brighton Cat Killer

A security guard dubbed the ‘Brighton cat killer’ has been found guilty of carrying out a gruesome campaign of animal knifings that left detectives stumped for months.

Steve Bouquet, 54, attacked 16 cats in Brighton, East Sussex, killing nine. The campaign of attacks went on for several months between October 2018 and June 2019.

On Wednesday a jury at Chichester Crown Court found the shopping centre worker guilty of 16 offences of criminal damage, in relation to the cats, and possession of a knife.

Four pet ducks have been stolen from a school, leaving the children devastated.

"The theft of a school's four pet ducks has left its pupils "absolutely devastated", a teacher has said.

Indian Runner ducks Boris, Donald, Daisy and Quackers were taken from Kincraig Primary School in Blackpool on Thursday evening.

Urging whoever took the birds to return them, outdoor learning co-ordinator Connor Bracegirdle said the theft had been reported to police.

The school was targeted by a thief who took hundreds of milk cartons in 2019."

Maybe they just flew off somewhere?
They are birds after all.

Edit: Aaah actually maybe not as "they were in a locked, fox-proof coop." But that does beg the question whether they are sure that the ducks were actually in there to start with?
