The poor woman must have no confidence, and couldn't she wait for an explanation?

Is that a new story? I seem to remember that happening before at some point.

It was a reported news story, and you're right about it happening "before" ...

This incident occurred (or at least was reported) in January 2021. The earliest published report I can readily find is this 22 January item in Yucatan magazine:

https://yucatanmagazine.com/confuse...-after-seeing-her-younger-self-in-old-photos/

The story (with varying details and initial used in the wife's name) was subsequently published in multiple tabloids worldwide.

You're right, I was too lazy to check and just trusted my Fortean memory: "I don't remember it, so probably it's not on the board yet" :)

Norwegian man convicted of killing 5 in bow-and-arrow attack

A man was found guilty Friday of murder and attempted murder for fatally stabbing five people and wounding four others in southern Norway when he attacked strangers with a bow and arrows and knives.

The Buskerud District Court sentenced Espen Andersen Bråthen to compulsory mental health care. Three forensic psychiatric experts who assessed him concluded he has chronic paranoid schizophrenia and was mentally ill at the time of the attack on Oct. 13, 2021. Both the prosecution and the defense had called for compulsory mental health care for Andersen Bråthen.

Andersen Bråthen was found guilty of 11 counts of attempted murder for shooting at people with a bow and arrows in Kongsberg ...

The three-judge court said the defendant had explained during the trial that started in May and lasted until June 6 “that he had decided to kill people in order to achieve rebirth. He said he thought he was going to go blind. The accused therefore believed that it was urgent to kill.” ...

Andersen Bråthen had watched “a large number of videos” showing situations where people were stabbed, and had explained “that he watched such videos to learn how to use weapons so that they became as deadly as possible,” the court said.

The 38-year-old’s defense lawyer, Fredrik Neumann, said, according to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, that his client “had delusions with religious and magical content.” ...

Andersen Bråthen also was sentenced to pay compensations to the victims.

Well that's an update for the Kate Bush song 'Babushka' In which a woman pretends to be another woman and then has an 'affair' with her own husband.

Police identify man accused of shooting 2 Subway employees over too much mayo, killing 1

ATLANTA — Atlanta police have identified the man they say shot two Subway employees over a Subway sandwich with too much mayo on it, killing one woman.

The shooting happened at a franchise of the restaurant at the Circle K gas station at the intersection of Northside and Markham drive on Sunday evening.

Police said the man became angry after an employee put too much mayonnaise on his sandwich and opened-fire behind the counter.

A 26-year-old woman was killed and a 24-year-old woman sustained critical injuries.

A relative told Channel 2′s Tom Jones that the surviving victim, 24-year-old Jada Statum, was hit twice after she pushed her son under the counter to keep him from being hurt.

Police have identified the shooter as Melvin Williams, Jr. He’s been charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Turns out it was his partner’s house he repeatedly rammed. Her house & one next door had to be demolished.

Wellington pled guilty to a string of charges including culpable and reckless conduct to the danger of lives.

The 34-year-old was on bail at the time after a previous incident where he attacked girlfriend Sara Cassidy at a hotel in Edinburgh.
He was told to stay away from the 33-year-old after headbutting her, dragging her and pinning her against a wall.

But, despite the court order, the couple resumed contact and he repeatedly called her on the day of the lorry rage incident on 6 September last year.
The High Court in Glasgow heard Wellington had flown into a drunken rage after Ms Cassidy refused to meet him.
He had screamed down the phone to her: "I am going to park my lorry in your living room.”

When police arrived, Ms Cassidy was on the phone to Wellington who was overheard threatening that he was "coming back to finish it".
He added: "I told you I was going to ram it into your house."

The damaged truck - still carrying a load of woodchips - was found abandoned in a supermarket car park the next morning with Wellington's wallet inside.

He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced next month.

Four organisers of a joke Facebook event have been arrested in Egypt on charges of "planning a riot" and "using reactions... to make money".

"Helwan Real Batman Battle" was set up after two users argued in jest over whether they were the caped crusader. A third proposed that they dress up in superhero costumes and "fight a battle" in Cairo's Helwan district on the night of 13 August to "solve this issue".

"Whoever is still alive is the real Batman," the event's description said.

The post prompted a wave of memes, jokes and quotes, and attracting favourable reactions from Egyptian celebrities.

However, a few days later TV channels loyal to President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi expressed concern about the event, suggesting that it could be used to promote violence against law enforcement agencies.

Another fake kidnapping.

Police in India's national capital Delhi have arrested an American woman for allegedly staging her own kidnapping.

The 27-year-old woman faked her abduction to "blackmail" her parents into sending money after she ran out of cash, police said. The woman had reached India on 3 May, according to local media reports. She phoned her mother on 7 July and said she was being assaulted by a man, NDTV reported.

Police in Delhi began investigating her whereabouts after the US Embassy forwarded a complaint from her family to them. They traced the IP addresses from which the woman had sent an email to American Citizen services and made a video call to her mother, the Indian Express newspaper reported.

Based on this, they traced and arrested a 31-year-old man from Nigeria, who said during interrogation that the woman was staying in an apartment in Noida, on the outskirts of Delhi.

"After her rescue, it was revealed that she had staged the incident to blackmail her parents," New Delhi's deputy commissioner of police, Amrutha Guguloth, told the Indian Express.

Police said the woman, who is from Washington DC, had met the man through Facebook and was staying with him since she reached India.

Bounce house company owner says thieves stole equipment, holding it for ransom

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — A bouncy house company with thousands of dollars worth of equipment told Channel 2 Action News that it was held for ransom by a customer.

“I was initially contacted by him on Facebook Marketplace. He goes by the name of Thomas Jones,” said Jasmine Lawrence with JAK Event Rentals.

Lawrence sent Channel 2′s Larry Spruill a Facebook message thread of a customer wanting to reserve a bouncy house from her company.

“They told us where to park, where we can put all of the equipment and the inflatable. It was like an open area behind one of the apartment buildings,” Lawrence said.

Lawrence said her team had the customer fill out the forms and make a payment for the six-hour time slot. She also recorded a cellphone video of the setup process.

“He just sat there and watched us like a hawk the entire time,” Lawrence said.

Lawrence and her team left and agreed to return at 6 p.m. to pick everything up once the party was over.

“I get a text message at 6 o’clock on the dot and the text said, ‘Um, hey I want to know what time you’re coming so I can unplug everything,’” Lawrence said.

She told Spruill that her team got there around 6 p.m.

“We saw all of the equipment was gone including the generator, the blowers. The only thing that was left was the green tarp on the ground,” Lawrence said. “Everything was gone. I’m going to say nearly $4,000 in equipment.”

As if that wasn’t enough, shortly after, she got a text from the customer.

“I got two messages. One said, ‘I hate to give you bad news, but you’re not getting your stuff back.’ They then followed up with, ‘The reason is I felt that you overcharged me,’” Lawrence said.

The company said the thieves told them they would give them their equipment back if they paid them $1,000.

The company said they haven’t paid them but instead reached out to other party rental companies to warn them.

Several companies told them the same guy reached out to them for reservations.
