Strange Crimes

He should have spent more time with his Bible.

Matthew 6:19
Indeed.
And,

Timothy 6 : 9-10
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

342 cast iron drain covers stolen this year so far in Walsall

Scrap metal dealers have been warned that they will be punished for accepting the covers after Walsall Council revealed that taxpayers’ will be forced to pay £110,800 to replace the items that have gone missing this year.

Its leader, Councillor Mike Bird, explained: ‘That’s a significant amount of public money that we’d rather spend on our looked after children and caring for our most vulnerable residents, rather than fixing things after criminals have left our highways in a dangerous condition.

‘Any footage from doorbell cameras is particularly welcomed. If we can find them and recover costs from them, we will.’

‘We have around 37,825 gully covers across the borough, of varying ages, designs and sizes.

‘This means there isn’t a handy stockpile of covers in the yard which can be quickly fitted, so our contractor Tarmac has to “plate” the missing covers while replacements are organised to ensure the safety of highway users.’

But he said that the new covers will be much harder for criminals to take – though they will be more expensive.

Legal cast iron scrap value is currently around £0.16 per kilo, stolen probably less. Estimating the drain grilles at 30 kg, scrap value of 342 would be around £1600, that’s if you can find a bent scrap dealer to buy them.

This guy knows how to hold a grudge. He's now busted for torching 4 vehicles at two Indiana car dealerships, motivated by the fact the dealership chain sold him a bum vehicle - 36 years ago.
‘It was time for the chickens to return to roost’: Jeep bought in 1986 prompts arsons at O’Daniel lots

He bought a Jeep from O’Daniel back in 1986 which had a bad motor and the dealership refused to make things right.

That was Dewey R. Fredrick’s story, at least, when he spoke to Fort Wayne Police investigators.

And that’s why the 79-year-old used road flares to torch three Jeeps at one O’Daniel lot and a Pontiac convertible at another, causing nearly $75,000 worth of damage over the course of the early morning hours of July 17 ...

Fredrick is facing four preliminary counts of Level 4 felony arson after being arrested Friday.

“‘It was time for the chickens to return to roost,'” Fredrick said in a recorded interview with police ...

Upon his arrest, Fredrick told investigators he was upset he did not get to see the fires happen. When they showed him surveillance video, he identified himself ...

“(Fredrick) also stated that shortly after he purchased the Jeep in 1986 he went to an O’Daniel lot and placed Loctite, Super Glue and another accelerant in the door locks of several cars on the lot” ...

I was working in the office of a roofing company, it has become a huge problem, union / non-union laborers.
Plus the fact that there are growing numbers of 'fly-by-night' roofing 'companies' that open up, promise great replacement roofs at discount prices, and then suddenly close up and re-open under another name, uninsured, leaving customers helpless when they have problems.
When the old roofing tiles are removed, they are classified 'construction debris' and by law are to be disposed of properly, at an expensive charge. These fly-by-night companies dump the old asphalt tiles in trash cans around the neighborhood to avoid paying anything, and even leave debris in the yards where they are working.
This happened to us when they ripped off the old roof of a house next door to us.

Call me a cynical bastard, but the first thing that crossed my mind watching the video was that this was a phony heist, staged by the pastor. Nothing of value was taken, but the pastor will file a whopping fraudulent insurance claim. It just seemed to me that there was something "off" about the body language of everyone in that video.

This pastor is a convicted felon who served six years for identity theft and grand larceny.

We'll see . . .

Whew, glad to see my BS detector sense appears to still be working.

As more details about this bizarre "robbery" are revealed. the story just becomes shabbier and shabbier. Yet I have no doubt that this "preacher's" parishioners can't throw money at him fast enough. He's a scumbag, right enough, but he's just taking advantage of something seriously wrong with human beings.

I hope he gets rumbled. It's looking pretty obvious now.

Om makes me say OMG!

Om Prakash - also known as Pasha - figured on the list of "most wanted criminals" of police in the northern Indian state of Haryana.

For 30 years, the former Indian army employee - wanted in connection with an alleged robbery and murder - hid in plain sight in the neighbouring state of Uttar Pradesh. There, he acquired a brand-new life with official documents, married a local woman and raised three children with her.

But earlier this week, his luck finally ran out when police arrested the frail 65-year-old from his home in a slum in Ghaziabad city.

Until his arrest, police say, Om Prakash wore several hats - driving a truck, touring nearby villages as part of a group to sing devotional songs on religious occasions, even acting in 28 low-budget local films.

Om Prakash is in custody and has not commented on the accusations against him, but Sub-Inspector Vivek Kumar of Haryana's Special Task Force (STF), who was part of the team that arrested him, told the BBC that he blames an alleged accomplice for the 1992 murder.

Man allegedly uses stolen excavator to rip up Salt Lake City store parking lot

A man was arrested after police said he stole an excavator, drove nearly a mile down the street, and started ripping up the ground at a grocery store parking lot in Salt Lake City.

That's a big digger. Could the 'why' be crystal meth?

Careful when you wake some people up!

A man has been found guilty of murdering his friend following an argument about being woken up.

Jimmy Moore, 33, died after he was stabbed repeatedly by Robert Crabtree in Palmers Grove, Nazeing, Essex on the morning of Saturday, 25 September. The victim had been to the address to pick up Crabtree's brother for work, but he was not in, police said.

Crabtree, 33, was convicted following a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court and will be sentenced on 9 September. His brother Ryan, 30, was convicted of perverting the course of justice after he helped to cover up some evidence.

Only in Tasmania...

Launceston thief who scooped coins from monkey enclosure pond 'now at risk of herpes'

An intruder who broke into a snow monkey enclosure to scoop coins from a pond could have unwittingly exposed themselves to "potentially fatal" herpes, with authorities urging them to seek immediate medical attention.

Tasmania's City of Launceston issued a press release today, following the break-in at the City Park monkey enclosure on Tuesday night.

The enclosure, which houses a population of macaques — established as part of a sister-city relationship with Ikeda in Japan — is popular with tourists and locals, who toss coins into the pond.

Mayor Albert Van Zetten said the intruder caused damage to an electric fence and stole "coins out of the surrounding moat".

"Unfortunately, this action has potentially exposed the intruder to the herpes B virus, which is carried by the City Park monkeys," Mr Van Zetten said.

A Pennsylvania woman was apparently unsuccessful in wielding magic and / or a shotgun to wreak revenge on an ex, so she used pages ripped from her book of spells to torch a (his?) car.
Police: Hollsopple woman used pages from "spell book" to set car on fire

Police say a Somerset County woman is accused of using pages from a spell book to set a vehicle on fire.

According to a criminal complaint, 47-year-old Kristy Malzi, of Hollsopple, is facing charges related to reckless burning, terroristic threats and simple assault.

Officers say they were called July 30 to BK’s Klassics on Bedford Street in Stonycreek Township for reports of a vehicle arson.

They say they learned through interviews that Malzi went to the location to confront a man with whom she had a previous relationship with.

Once there, ... Malzi pointed a loaded shotgun at the man and struck him before employees were able to remove her from the building and lock her out.

Witnesses say they then noticed a Ford Focus on the lot was on fire.

According to the complaint, an employee used a fire extinguisher to put the fire out and noticed several burnt pages from a book inside the engine compartment of the vehicle.

During their investigation, police say they found some of the burnt pages lying in the parking lot and the name of the book was “Wicca Book of Spells.”

Police noted that witnesses had told investigators that Malzi was believed to be practicing witchcraft.

They say she ignited the pages from the book before placing them on the driver side front seat of the car through an open window. ...

If I may interject, is it really an intelligent move to throw coins in there in the first place? I'm pretty certain that the macaques have no use for money. Unless they have a tuck-shop of course.

This is not the thief in question, but I'd bet he's getting far more than he bargained for than just a good photo opportunity from these monkeys!

Isn't that person at risk of catching a 'potentially fatal herpes'?

Quote from the article:

I'd say this fellow is more inclined to go home with a good dose of lice.
