Stranger Things

I really liked season 3. I thought it was far funnier than the first two, plus had a nice line in proper scary moments. Steve is awesome in it too. He's got a great development as a character from the 'bit of a git' in season 1.

Season 2 I didn't enjoy so much. It felt like a collection of great characters that I cared about, desperately looking around for a decent plot. Some good moments but it took me ages to watch. Season 3 hits the ground running though.
That is strange. It took me until episode 3 of Season 3 to even buy into the thing and even then, it's wearing thin.

Forgot to add: Star Wars nod at the beginning was a bit obvious.

Have finished the series now.

I've some major reservations about how it turned after about episode 4--and the last two episodes in particularly were flabby with a few actually cringe-inducing scenes which I'd rather weren't there (too much John Hughes with the camera lingering longer than is comfortable).

Far too many flashbacks, which are always a sign of poor visual storytelling.

Plus, too many endings (Is this The Return of the King?)

I liked watching it. I liked some of the characters. But overall it was a bit sprawling and 'make-it-up-as-you-go-along' in terms of plot.

The last episode in particular was a mess.

The song can f*** off.

Still a good show, but doesn't have the charm of the first or second series.

Is that mute skinhead girl still in it? .. I only watched about the first three episodes, she got on my nerves a bit.

She's not mute any more and has long hair but yeah she's in it. You should persevere with it mate, it's great.

There were many elements that I really enjoyed, but the third series was a bit duff in terms of narrative.

Series 1 and 2 were excellent.

I enjoyed both a lot, even with nagging and persistence irritations at the calculated nostalgia porn that it was essentially constructed of. I've not bothered with series 3 and have heard mixed things from negative, like yourself; people saying it's about as good and others saying it takes the narrative in new directions. The second series felt very derivative of the the first, which felt derivative of the whole of 80s pop culture.

If people say series 4 is amazing I may give 3 a try and move on to it but I think I'm tapped out for this.

I can not remember why the main female character lost her powers according to the trailer.

There has been so much time gone by between seasons, hard to remember.
