I'm starting to really appreciate Bill Skarsgard's work. I first really noticed him in "It", but I had also seen "Hemlock Grove" and enjoyed the too short tv series. I see that he was one of the actors in that one also.

The Boogeyman has some jump scares but a lot of the horror is also psychological, aboiut how our fears may summon up a physical reality. sort of a tulpa that has been around for millennia. Classic Stephen King, review to follow. We also got free popcorn & drinks. A choice of gluten free, zero alcohol or normal Peroni.

When one of these lost sheep fights back, scarring Mari permanently, her changed circumstances lead her to recognise the hypocrisy and misogyny that she has unwittingly helped perpetuate in this memorable examination of society’s various oppressive structures and strictures.

Medusa: Consistently trippy satirical art-house horror takes aim at Brazil’s evangelical cults. The film’s ideas about women as religious enforcers, complicit in their own subjugation, are fascinating.

Taking on a major logistical challenge for his third feature after the land-lubbing likes of 2009’s “Gravity” and “Stereo” five years later, Erlenwein takes an unfussy approach to this compact story that is tense without ever seeming hyperbolic. The assembly is expert on all levels, its outstanding contributions being visual, with Frank Griebe credited as DP Jan Hinrich Hoffmann and Eric Borjeson as underwater cinematographers. While no one would want to be in May and Drew’s predicament, it is inarguably a pleasure to look at.
