Rewind channel broadcasts with low bandwidth, it's cheap. They may have better source ie the restored version, which they are broadcasting from. Will have a look later. Not just an excuse to watch The Prisoner, no it's research.
That might explain why, when I was watching The Zoo Gang the other night, I had to have the volume right up to 40, when 7-8 is normally fine.
It wasn't even making much difference at all right up until the late 30s. Very odd.

No, no excuse needed, but I found myself wondering - if they only wanted information as to why he resigned, why didn't he just say because Marie in accounts p****s me off and Brian is a complete backstabber. ?

Jason King and Department S I had to have the volume up to higher than normal levels, also on Rewind TV.

I watched an interesting video that essentially suggested that the Mandela Effect may get worse as a consequence of using quantum computers. The quantum computers are supposedly putting a strain on the fabric of time and space, generating new probabilities and new parallel dimensions. This means that the number of possible 'things' may increase.
It sounds barmy and I don't fully understand it, but then the whole field of quantum physics is barmy.

At least I know it's not just our tv.

Even under normal circumstances on the regular channels, I have to sit with the remote because the volume is so inconsistent.
Not just when the adverts come on either.

I'm sure that years ago I didn't have to do this with the remote.

I dunno, the adverts've always been louder than the programmes. As soon as remotes came in I learned to lunge for it and turn the volume down.

Some programmes have noisy intros. Techy was watching Foundation recently and the intro was deafening. We had words about it.

Adverts maybe, but not consistently with the actual programme.

How did we manage before remotes?

No wonder people were thinner back then- it was the constant having to get up of the sofa.

Sound levels and quality vary a lot.
I reckon there's a constant adjustment going on to keep people's attention while not annoying them.
Nobody can get that right. Anyone who could would make a mint.

Anyway, turning the telly up and down is what people had kids for.

Can remember being forbidden to touch the controls on the only TV in the house except to adjust the volume on my parents' orders. :nods:

I remember my Mum complaining about the adverts sudden volume boosts and she was only in her late 30's at the time. I've noticed the same thing since.

What about the background music on YouTube videos? There are some that are actually unwatchable because the background music drowns out the narration. I had to stop watching a Time Team episode that I'd got on YouTube, because Lovely Tony's dulcet tones were drowned out by music!

People of my generation (chiefly boys, admittedly) dreamed of being professional footballers; now, many users of Youtube & Twitter apparently fantasise that they are...Sky Sports News presenters or 'breaking news' journalists. This is an era when journalists and broadcasters made themselves into stars - think: tv celebrity Donald Trump actually becoming U.S. President - regardless of whether they actually had any talent whatsoever; they had a public platform, and that merited or unmerited publicity did half the job for them (in terms of hype).

I really hate that plinky plonk stuff they play over just about everything now.

It's like everything has to be an Enid Blyton production, regardless as to whether it's about Nazis (it's always Nazi week), the plague, sending children up chimneys and down mines, or Victorian engineering.

To be fair, the Donster had done pretty well in real estate, many years before he did whatever celebrity show it was.

I suppose a lot of it is because it has to be royalties free music, which explains why the same pieces crop up over and over again. And I sort of understand the need for background music. But something must go wrong on the mixing desk for some YouTube producers because their backing tracks are just WAY TOO LOUD!

Both MrsF and I were sure that the lead singer of the group 4 non blondes died a few years ago, but it was actually the drummer in 1997.
