Fun fact: there's no such thing as a "Slobo Babe", the band meant "Sloane Ranger", a term that was already archaic in the 90s.

Catherine Ringer decided after a few years in the porn business she would make more money in the music business by forming a band with Fred Chichin. Their entry into French New Wave/Post Punk made a big splash.

Serge Gainsbourg and Catherine RInger discussing her porn career.

I would post up Serge and Whitney Houston on a chat show, but you can look for that yourselves.
Not sure she ever went back to France.
My French friend told me that waning viewing figures would be the catalyst to Gainsbourg on a chat show as people would tune in for the impending explosion.
Great songwriter, bad drinking habit.

Not for the faint hearted ... but there are wonderful recordings of Stockhausen on Youtube.
Modern classical music of the "bubble and squeak" variety. But if you like it you will listen open-mouthed to the virtuosity of the players!

A couple of my favourites, just because, y'know

The Go-Betweens playing 'The Clarke Sisters' live at Roskilde in 1987. Wondrous as ever:

And a live version of Crown of Creation by the Jefferson Airplane from the Smothers Brothers show - complete with Grace Slick in 'brown face' makeup... And I was pleased watching Only Connect this week that Victoria Coren Mitchell's a bit of a Jefferson Airplane fan.

This song, it's 30 years old.
Neil Murray is a hero from my youth. Dragged the mainstream spotlight waaaay outback and onto the real Australia.

This one's nearly 40. Both get me tapping toes.

Were they both drunk?
Don't know, but it was two music veterans enjoying themselves on stage.

Gwen Stefani seems a bit wasted in this live performance of It's My Life on VMA 2003.

Theory: everyone who loves The Doors secretly thinks that they are the only one who really understands their music.

And I include myself in that.

Can a shovel remodeled with 3 strings and a pickup be called a "digger re-do"?

Check out what Justin Johnson can do with a shovel guitar.

Found this while looking for another version. Love Annie's look!
Thanks for the snapshot of that moment in time!

Might I suggest in turn, a video which I had only seen once before and not in entirety - many years ago - until rediscovering it now.

The breathtakingly beautiful....

I should add for the uninitiated that Julian Cope is the most Fortean guy we have.
I am a huge fan of The Cope. And Teardrop Explodes too.....Seen him live a few times too - Jehovahkill is a really cool album which stands the test of time in my opinion, and has lots of references to his visits to standing stones/circles etc....

Kilimanjaro, Fried and Jehovahkill are the three I keep on going back to.

That said, I like Skellington a lot, too, but my physical copy is on the other side of the world.

Lots of warm whimsy on that release.

Wilder, World Shut Your Mouth (his first solo LP) and Jehovahkill are three I visit regularly....

I think my copy of Skellington is vinyl and I have nothing to play it on anymore.....

Fortunately there is a lot of material on "the youtube" so I can listen on there when I get desperate. I used to buy everything on vinyl. I think I was hard up for cash when it came out so didn't get a CD copy when it was easy to find/order.....and now any CD copies I find are expensive.
