Just to extend the Oldfield focus for a bit, any love for Amarok? I had it on constant rotation for about a year when it came out. It was a great mental prompt on my many long night walks at night during a period of christian faith and contemplation.

Still love this.

This came at me at random via YouTube suggestions and I remembered that I had it on a mix-tape given to me by an older boy who was the son of my father's friend.

I'm not the biggest rap fan (at least not of modern rap), but I enjoyed hearing this again.

Had the "Thank you very much, sir!" "My pleasure!" couplet going round in my head after hearing the new Ohtis/Stef Chura song on the radio. Checked out the video. Erm, the lyrics are slightly different (NSFW):

But it is excellent. Now my head's gone sweary.

I was just going to post the Cocteau Twins! I used to listen to them all the time in college...
Although I wasn't about to... perhaps resultant of some strange planetary alignment, YouTube has just suggested I might enjoy the following live performances.

Seeing the Cocteau Twins, reminded of another, terrific, contemporary Scottish band.

Moving right along. My life. Stuck in no man's land without domain for too long. Having stayed sober by choice last night, this morning feels good, time to get to moving on, to steps and action. Slumber less, live a little bit, 50 years young. God I wish it would rain.

It is the springtime of my loving
The second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing
So little warmth I’ve felt before
It isn’t hard to feel me glowing
I watched the fire that grew so low
It is the summer of my smiles
Flee from me, keepers of the gloom
Speak to me only with your eyes
It is to you I give this tune
Ain’t so hard to recognize
These things are clear to all from time to time
I felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us
But I know that I love you so
But I know
That I love you so
These are the seasons of emotion
And like the wind, they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion
I see the torch
We all must hold
This is the mystery of the quotient, quotient
Upon us all, upon us all a little rain must fall
Just a little rain

Appreciate those sentiments - I get it.

Which does of course leave us with a dilemma.

If there's no God... whatever... then how the...can something this sublime exist...

Kinda thing... :)
