The Orville

Yes, as far as i can make out it will be next year
At their panel at SDCC, they just announced that (even though FOX renewed the show for Season 3 back in May), they will be moving Season 3 exclusively (in the US) to Hulu and it won't be back till late next year.

Damn, that's a long wait! But thanks for the info.

I have a quick question, I may have missed the answer to this somehow, but why do they say 'Let's Get Flat' ????

Season 1, Episode 11. To evade Krill, Captain Mercer takes a ship through an anomaly / portal into two-dimensional space. As he initiates this dangerous move he says, "Let's get flat."

I enjoyed the first season of The Orville as a kind of parody of Star Trek and similar series, but found the second season felt like a sort of lesser Star Trek clone. I'm done with Star Trek, and don't think it needs cloning. I was surprised to discover the first season is thought of quite negatively, while the second is viewed positively.

Have an Orville-related pearoast -

Read this on b3ta a few years ago -

A mate of mine worked for a company who specialised in stage rigging, one of his main jobs was looking after the aerial safety on the Gladiators TV show. In between series of the programme he was sent to work at a holiday camp for Keith Harris (and Orville.)

Harris’ act was supposed to start with him on stage talking to an unseen Orville. The green duck would be whinging about not being able to fly and would launch into the madly annoying ‘I wish I could fly’ song which plagued the charts in the 80’s. At the climax Orville would be released from the back of the auditorium on a wire and would ‘fly’ over the kids heads to join Harris on stage.

The job was easy money but Harris turned out to be a complete and utter twat who pissed of everyone who had to work with him. My mate decided to take revenge and one night packed Orville full of stage explosives and a detonator. Half way down the wire cue a loud bang, a shower of green feathers, a room full of traumatised kids and an apoplectic Keith Harris.

My mate got fired on the spot, it was well worth it.

I hear Orville went into a decline. Harris had a hand in it.

Edit: yes, yes I do drag that one out every time.
Indeed. The hand needs a cleaning from time to time.

I liked both seasons, but was surprised at how exciting the second one became. I'd call it underrated, especially by Star Trek fans.
Agreed. I rewatched The Orville 2 parter “Identity” the other night. It‘s a neat setup relying on all the relationships the crew have built previously to attempt to overcome impossible odds.

Opening sequence from the new season:

Looks like a dream sequence to me! But they're not messing about with the spectacle.

Starts in June on Hulu if you're in the US, but in the UK... I dunno, Disney+ maybe? Maybe Amazon Prime Video too, if you're lucky.

Great beginning, and I agree, dream sequence, he is lucky him and his brother were not sucked out into space when he opened that door lol I will watch it on Amazon when it comes out, thanks for posting this GNC

Apparently it has a new theme tune too, but it's been so long I can't remember the previous one.

IIRC it was on 'Sky One' in the UK but Sky changed the name of that channel to something else.
Either that or it was on Sci-Fy or the Fox channel, can't recall.

EDIT - It is a '20th' production which suggests 'Fox'.

20th Century Fox was bought by Disney from News Corp, previous owners of Fox, so I have to assume the new season will debut on Disney+ over here, like The Walking Dead did. Though TWD appeared on Amazon Video eventually.

Just been on amazon and they are selling The Orville for £73.99 and the shuttle for £19.99, die cast ones.

There is one for about £4five quid, sorry my five and six broke and i cant be arsed to plug in my other keyboard

No, just the ones on this keypad, the separate one is ok lol I need one of the infra red ones the littler keyboard, the other is too big and clunky

I am not getting Disney+
I am not a fucking Princess.

Disney+ includes Disney Star which has the grown-ups' stuff on it (like the 18-rated The Walking Dead). It's only in the USA that they have the screaming habdabs about grown-up content on Disney+.

The Orville was back for its third season on Disney+ (or Hulu), and it was a bit of a epic. A lot more downbeat than I was expecting, but ends on a note of hope. We have a new bridge crewmember and she may be trouble. I'm interested to see where it goes from here.
