Now this is bizarre.

A survivor of the 2018 Parkland, Florida, school shooting told Vice News his father has fallen deep into the QAnon rabbit hole and now believes the massacre that killed 17 people at his school was fake.

The 18-year-old was part of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s final graduating class of survivors of the mass shooting. He spoke to Vice News anonymously, under the alias Bill, after sharing his story on a Reddit thread dedicated to supporting friends and family of QAnon followers. He said he wanted to protect his identity out of concern over attacks by conspiracy theorists.

Bill said his father believes the shooting that killed nine of his classmates was a hoax and that the shooter, Bill and his classmates were “paid pawns in a grand conspiracy orchestrated by some shadowy force,” Vice reported.

Bill’s father got caught up in conspiracy theories a couple of months into the coronavirus pandemic, when anti-lockdown protests were taking place, he said.

“His feelings were so strong it turned into facts for him. So if he didn’t like having to wear masks it wouldn’t matter what doctors or scientists said,” he told Vice. “Anything that contradicted his feelings was wrong. So he turned to the internet to find like-minded people which led him to QAnon.”

Truly distressing

Los Angeles — A California surfing school owner was charged Wednesday with killing his two young children with a spear gun in Mexico because he believed they would become monsters, authorities said.

Matthew Taylor Coleman, 40, of Santa Barbara is facing a federal charge of the foreign murder of U.S. nationals, the U.S. attorney's office said in a statement. Coleman confessed to the FBI during an interview that he took his 2-year-old son and 10-month-old daughter to Rosarito, Mexico, where shot a "spear fishing gun" into their chests, according to an affidavit filed by an FBI agent with the criminal complaint.

Coleman said "he believed his children were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them," according to the court document. ...

Coleman was detained at the border checkpoint, where during an interview with an FBI agent "he explained that he was enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories and was receiving visions and signs revealing that his wife, A.C., possessed serpent DNA and had passed it on to his children," according to the affidavit. ...

Wasn't something supposed to happen August 13? Has anyone followed the excuses this time? Just curious but not enuf to spend time looking for it.

Won't it be necessary for another election to take place before that could even happen?
Only it you take the nonsense they have been spouting for years seriously, this is about the 5th date they have given for Trump to be made USP, all the other dates have passed without even a whimper from Q

Won't it be necessary for another election to take place before that could even happen?
No, because Trump actually won and we've just been playing along so we can catch the scoundrel Biden and his conspirators. I mean it doesn't matter because everything the Federal government has done since the incorporation of D.C. is null and void. I mean it's a revolution, man!

Seriously, the US has perhaps the most stable - if oddball - method of elections and transition of power. Because the actual election of the President is done by the Electoral College and certified by Congress, Biden won and Trump lost - no matter what you may wish for. The fact that so many can believe any of the QAnon, Lindell, and related nonsense still amazes me.

If Biden gets kicked out, resigns, or drops off his twig, Kamala Harris takes over, if she goes then it's the leader of the House of Representatives (Nancy Pelosi) as acting President , next it's the President pro tempore of the Senate (usually the most senior Senator of the majority part), then it works it's way down through the Secretaries of State, there's around fifteen of them, and the Attorney General, who would hold office until the next election. It's highly unlikely all of them could be incapacitated. The only way Trump's coming back before 2024 without an election, is if there's a coup d'etat (second attempt), or a civil war, with Texas and some other states ceding from the Union and picking Trump as head of state.

... then it works it's way down through the Secretaries of State, there's around fifteen of them, and the Attorney General...
A slight correction: there's only one Secretary of State; he/she and the Attorney General are members of the President's cabinet, and the line of succession works its way down in descending order of the age of the cabinet department, skipping anyone who doesn't meet the constitutional qualifications for becoming President.

Sorry. messed up the terminology, I meant the cabinet department - should check, I looked this up right at the start of the year, with some half remembered stuff on Letter from America.

QAnon blame hospital for Covid deniers death.

QAnon believers and other conspiracy theorists have inundated a Chicago hospital with threats after a prominent COVID-19 denier who sought treatment for the disease died Monday.

Veronica Wolski, 64, was well-known in the Chicago area for disseminating anti-vaccine and pro-QAnon messages via large banners posted in highly-trafficked areas.

She became a political lightning rod in conspiracy circles after she contracted COVID-19 and suffered complications. Her backers loudly demanded Resurrection Medical Center treat her with ivermectin, a drug commonly used to deworm livestock. The drug has some human applications, but it is not approved for use in treatment of COVID-19 (federal health agencies, in fact, recommend against it).

Lin Wood — a far-right attorney Twitter permanently banned earlier this year after he predicted the execution of then-Vice President Mike Pence by firing squad — seized upon Wolski’s hospitalization to boost his own publicity. He used social media to urge his followers to contact staff at the hospital and demand Wolski be treated with ivermectin.

Hundreds of people have since called and emailed the hospital, according to NBC Chicago. Some have threatened violence.

A QAnon related conspiracy theory hits the Bundestag elections.

Ahead of federal elections this weekend, conspiracy theories have been spreading online, including claims the poll will be invalid because the German state is illegitimate.

Followers claim neither Germany nor Austria were officially recognised as independent states by Allied force commanders after World War Two, operationally known as the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF).

These baseless claims have echoes in the Reichsbürger Movement, which rejects modern Germany's legitimacy. With links to far-right and anti-Semitic groups, it claims a German Reich still exists, with pre-War 1939 borders.

But modern Germany was constituted in 1949, as the Western allies merged their post-War occupation zones into the Bundesrepublik (West Germany) while the Soviet zone became the DDR (East Germany). And these merged into the current Federal Republic in 1990, after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

SHAEF conspiracy theory believers say the current German elections are invalid because they are organised by an non-existent state - and anybody taking part is committing treason.

Like the QAnon conspiracy in the United States, the SHAEF theory has a "saviour", who will rescue Germany from disaster. While in the US, it is Donald Trump who adherents believe will eventually intervene and retake power, in Germany it is a "Cdr Jansen", who posts on the social media platform Telegram. Theorists say Jansen, with the aid of a reinstated President Trump, will install a "legitimate" government, an absurd idea that has found a home in Germany's far-right online presence.

So how comes none of these people has spoken out for the last 30/70 years since Germany was unified or post war? There have been scores of elections and nobody has mentioned this previously

Just to pick one of the many holes in this theory, why would SHAEF need to recognise the states for them to be considered legitimate? That would be an issue for the politicians of the day, or were Roosevelt, Truman, Churchill and Attlee impostors?

There has been an ongoing movement, it's mentioned in the article.

They'll go into complicated arguments about Military Law just like the Freemen use Admiralty Law etc.

It's a clear pattern: Part of the population can't deal with losing the wars they start (world wars, civil wars, culture wars), and spend the rest of their lives nursing delusions. Meanwhile, the sensible people get to work and make something of their futures.

The QAnon delusional worldview is spreading worldwide, and it's mutating to fit into different nations' cultural sore points and quirks ...
French child kidnap plot shows global sway of QAnon style

The old music box factory had been abandoned for years on the outskirts of the Swiss mountain town, with paint curling at the edges of its dingy grey and yellow walls.

It was the perfect hiding place for the young French mother and her 8-year-old daughter at the heart of Operation Lima, an international child abduction plot planned and funded by a French group with echoes of the far-right extremist movement QAnon.

Lola Montemaggi had lost custody of her daughter, Mia, to her own mother months earlier because French government child protective services feared the young woman was unstable. Montemaggi found people online who shared the QAnon belief that government workers themselves were running a child trafficking ring. Then she turned to her network to do what she needed to do: Extract Mia. ...

The April 13 kidnapping of the girl from her grandmother’s home marked what is believed to be the first time that conspiracy theorists in Europe have committed a crime linked to the QAnon-style web of false beliefs that sent hundreds to storm the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. It shows how what was once a strictly U.S. movement has metastasized around the world, with Europol, the European umbrella policing agency, adding QAnon to its list of threats in June. QAnon influence has now been tracked to 85 countries, and its beliefs have been adapted to local contexts and languages from Hindi to Hebrew. ...
