Update on my little dog Stanley. I have finally managed to club my local vets and the specialist hospital in to communication. I had a phone consult with the hospital today. It's fortunate I'm a nice calm person, because they said to me that may not be able to operate because of the long delay. Since my vets referred my dog to them on Thursday 7th the delay is hardly my fault.

My consolation is that he is tough as nails (terrier) and if he has to get around on three paws he will.

Update on my little dog Stanley...
Any, hopefully, positive developments? Thoughts with Stanley and your good self.

My fine innkeeper, another Smirnoff with fresh orange, if you please.

IIs there not a name for this, in the guise of a cocktail?

Some years ago, I worked part-time, at weekends, in a nightclub bar.

A vodka and tomato juice would cost about £1.50 (in old money!), whereas a bloody mary cocktail, which was basically the same thing with a slice of lemon and a paper umbrella thingy, would set you back a fiver!

I remain confused by what's permissible under lockdown these days, however, I have come up an idea which might help with concerns re social distancing.

Those large, see-through, bin-bags which our council provide, can easily fit over your head and cover most of the body.

Don't even need to cut out any holes for visibility, or breathing. You can see OK and air circulates from underneath.

Jukebox... your shout... something tasty for a Friday night...

Oh... the original version...I haven't heard that in a long time!

If there's nothing but vodka and orange slice(s) - no.
If it's nothing but vodka and orange juice - it's a classic Screwdriver.

Why given that name...?

Seems there are various versions of the origin and this one is my clear favourite:

"And then of course, there’s another story, which refers to American (and/or multi-ethnic) oil workers in the Persian gulf in the mid 20th Century.

With long hours and a relatively dangerous job, the oil workers (who we probably have a lot more to thank for) started mixing vodka into their orange juice.

Lacking the typical oil rig barspoon (and what an oversight), they had to stir the drink with something. (Pretty sure we used a butter knife back in high school.) Ready at hand was, you guessed it, a screwdriver".

Cheers for the refill.

Is today Saturday, then?

Still get confused - kept thinking all day yesterday, that it was Saturday.

So, anything shocking about today...?

Ah, yes... weighed myself for first time in about 6 weeks and thought I might have put on a couple of pounds.

I would normally be around 10st, 10lbs.

Unfortunately, the scales, even though recently purchased, were faulty and declared I was now 12st, 4lbs...

Aye, as if...

O.... M.... G.... :omg:

I hope my new shirt fits - bought this online, genuinely, yesterday...

I should actually be treading warily re fashion.

I have mentioned elsewhere having uncovered long forgotten photographs.

One of them was taken in Blackpool, quite some years ago, when a moustache was in vogue and I was a keen photographer.

Family members were browsing through them the other day, when a chorus of 'YMCA' started up.

I wondered what that was all about...

...until...

Well, Stanley is back from the hospital. They weren't able to operate, as feared, because his bones had stared to repair themselves and the ends no longer match. But they do think his paw will heal, though maybe a bit deformed. He has a cast on it now, and a splint to strengthen it.

I asked about the bone splinters and they say either they will be absorbed back into his body or they will work their way out and my local vet will be able to remove them. Does that really happen? Sounds incredible.

Incredibly, just given myself an idea where some other missing photos might be and found them!

Blackpool again, Queen's Diamond Jubilee Parade, 1987... :)

Hopefully it makes him feel better after the cast comes off, unless he chews it off, do you feel ok?

Terrific news!

Any pix of Stanley. :)

When my last cat was getting really old, she started going blind. The vet said they could, 'reattach part of the retina', or something similar.

We couldn't understand how that was possible, however, they did perform a miracle and gave her at least manageable vision for another couple of years.

You have reminded of the day I went to settle our account. The receptionist duly obliged and went into an adjoining office.

She was away for ages and eventually came out for a moment to inform...

'I will be with you shortly, just waiting for the sixth page of your bill to finish printing..'.

Yes, i see now, well, it could have been worse, i think :p
I should like to point out that any remarks regarding ll previous photograph being reminiscent of the Village People are spurious.

Such is quite clear from the labyrinth of vintage, contemporary images discovered this very morning
