The World's Dumbest Criminals

Wearing job-specific outer clothing is a good form of urban camouflage.
I knew a women whose husband used to stroll into TV shops with a mate, both wearing brown warehouse coats, pick up an expensive telly and purposefully walk out with it.
This was the '70s - no CCTV or electronic alarms back then.
The college where I worked had some stuff stolen like that. They even got the janitors to sign a form confirming the stuff had been uplifted.

Two blokes robbed a famous "West End" shop of several grand of expensive carpets and rugs, using just this method.
Rivals laughed themselves silly about this.
One of said rivals had a criminal in a smart suit set up their own cash register during sale time - when there's a lot of 'new' faces and temps around. Even got another member of staff to cover for him while he went to the staff canteen. At the end of the day, they tipped the entire contents of the till (several thousands of pounds - it was a prestigious West End department store) into a brief case, put his jacket on and left by the front door!
If you dress, and act, as if you belong there, people tend not to question it.

One of Italy's most wanted criminals, who'd been on the run for 11 years, gives himself away when he was spotted in Corfu celebrating Napoli's victory in Serie A, Italy's top football league!

He probably thought people had forgotten about him.

Geez 14 years prison time. If he'd just did the time, he'd almost be out. Now he's only starting the time. Idiot - for more reasons than this, but just stupid

Criminals often don't think they'll be caught. Thus, they do and get put inside.
Then, the 'thinking' goes, if they escape and go on the run ... they won't be caught.

Man films himself with wads of cash. Gets nabbed.

Samuel Walmsley arrogantly laughed in videos alongside his fellow gang members as they counted out hundreds of pounds of illicit money and showed off bank cards.

The 20-year-old also posed for photos with cash and brazenly filmed his co-defendant in a stolen van on Snapchat, describing it as a ‘good night’s work’.

But now he is one of 14 men who have been locked away for a combined 50 years for their part in crime conspiracies, including burglaries, drug importation and vehicle thefts.
Walmsley was jailed for two years and four months for conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle at Preston Crown Court.

The police investigation into the gang began when an Audi car carrying Walmsley and Noah Mulligan, 21, failed to stop and later crashed in Great Harwood on October 7 last year.

Two men managed to escape but Walmsley and Mulligan were arrested on suspicion of going equipped after a number of tools associated with burglary were recovered.

Photos and videos recovered from Walmsley’s phone implicated him in being involved in the supply of cocaine and cannabis – he regularly took photographs of himself with large amounts of money.

Tate brothers & henchmen formally charged.

Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been charged in Romania with rape, human trafficking and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women.

His brother Tristan and two associates also face charges. All have denied the allegations. The Tate brothers were first arrested at their Bucharest home in December. In March, they were moved from custody to house arrest following a ruling by a Romanian judge.

The indictment deposited with the Bucharest court says that the four defendants formed an organised criminal group in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, but also in other countries including the US and the UK.

It names seven alleged victims who it says were recruited by the Tate brothers through false promises of love and marriage. The alleged victims were later taken to buildings in Ilfov county in Romania where they were intimidated, placed under constant surveillance and control and forced into debt, according to a statement from Romanian prosecutors. ...

Update.

Details of graphic evidence compiled by Romanian prosecutors, alleging that Andrew Tate coerced women into sexual acts, have been seen by the BBC.

The case file summary, containing hundreds of pages of testimony and transcripts, includes an allegation of sexual violence which is said to have left one woman with eye and breast injuries.

And in what prosecutors say are transcribed audio messages, Mr Tate's brother Tristan appears to say that he will "slave these bitches".

Both men are facing trial in Romania for human trafficking and forming an organised criminal group with two other defendants.
Andrew Tate is also facing a charge of rape.

They deny all the charges against them. Some of the messages may originally have been written or recorded in English, then translated into Romanian by prosecutors and re-translated back into English by the BBC.

Prosecutors say access to the money made on the OnlyFans site was controlled by Georgiana Naghel, one of the Tates' two Romanian co-defendants. She would pay the women in the OnlyFans videos sums of money each month without revealing the total income they had earned, prosecutors allege.

On content created for the TikTok platform, they say the defendants took 50% of the income - and sometimes more.

Witnesses also claim they were forced to produce specific content to a strict schedule, under the threat of verbal and physical abuse.

The case file refers to threats to "break your teeth" or "end up in the morgue" in transcribed text messages, said to be from Ms Naghel.
She is also facing a charge of physically assaulting one victim - which she denies.

Fines of about 10% were imposed by the defendants on the women performing online for even small infractions - such as staying too long on a break, crying while live online, or wiping their nose while live, one witness says.

This apparently resulted in one of the women owing about €4,000 (£3,412) in debts.

The prosecutors' file also contains what is claimed to be transcriptions of audio messages from 2020 - in which Tristan Tate appears to say he doesn't want the women on sites like PornHub and OnlyFans to have access to their accounts:

"I don't want them to have the passwords, I don't want them to have anything."
And:
"I don't want to tell them that they have OnlyFans, I want that money to be used by me and you, screw them…"

Another part of the transcript reads:

"Mainly I'm going to slave these bitches […] I'm going to make them work even more hours and hours and hours.. I work these bitches like slaves. […] SLAVE work. Minimum 10 or 12 hours a day."

Oh, being a member of the Camorra, I don't think prison life will be too difficult for him;
Goodfellas.jpg

I don't think anyone is so surprised.
I think he sees 'his women' as not only propery but employees. And, like any employer, he sees any money generated by his women as his own. I'm sure he'd argue that their 'wages' are living in his luxury mansions for free and so on.
I despise the man and his attitude (though he only publicises this to make money from the insecure), and know the women are victims here. But shouldn't we find ways of stopping women being lured into this lifestyle?

Is he a member of the Camorra? Does Luton have La Cosa Nostra?
Tate's dad was African-American, his mum was English. I'd have thought The Brotherhood would at least require some Italian heritage.

Vincenzo La Porta not Tate.

Tate can get rogered in the showers as much as possible for all I care.

Three youths arrested after throwing firebomb at police station in Heerlen

Three youths were arrested in Heerlen last night after throwing a Molotov cocktail at a police station. No one was injured.

Two of the three suspects threw the fire bomb over the gate of the police station last night. Employees of the Heerlen municipality's camera surveillance department were watching the youths at the time, police reported. They could see through cameras exactly where the suspects were and what they were doing.

The two 19-year-old youths from Heerlen and Hoensbroek could therefore be arrested immediately after the incident. The third suspect, aged 21, was later arrested on suspicion of involvement in the arson.

'We take this very highly'
The floor of the police station was badly blackened by the firebomb. The youths threw the Molotov cocktail at the part of the building where the criminal investigation department works, reports 1Limburg.

"We take this very highly," the police said. "The detectives working at this station are committed to fighting crime day in and day out. With that, it is very bad that this took place."

Why the firebomb was thrown is not clear. The police informed that the investigation into the motive is ongoing.

Police in Seattle got a call last week from a 17-year-old girl who said a man had broken into her parent’s home. When police arrived on the scene, they couldn’t find the man in the house but he was in the garage. He was sitting in the front of the car with a red gasoline container in his hands. When Police asked him to exit the car, he refused. They then broke the window, and the man began chugging the gasoline from the container.

Off his face on drugs probably.

Wrong-way driver calls police on himself by mistake

News story including video

Everyone else is going the wrong way on the freeway? I'd better call the cops rather than consider the alternative explanation! Alcohol was involved.

<<
A driver in Nebraska phoned police to report that he was almost hit by a driver who he said was going in the wrong direction, seemingly unaware that he himself was the one on the wrong side.

A deputy was able to arrest the driver before anyone was seriously injured.

Lancaster County Sheriff's Office released the video of the incident, which happened in March, to raise awareness of drunk driving.>>

I recall a You Tube 'clip show' which had the CCTV coverage of a young feller entering an American police station, wanting to report his friend for stealing all his dope. In fairness, the officer behind the desk gave him a couple of chances to think about what he was doing, along the lines of "So you want to report your roomie for stealing all of your dope stash? That's your illegal marijuana stash? Your marijuana that is illegal in this state to own?"
The twit still wanted his details and complaint to be filed. You could see officers in the background, gesturing to others, as if to say "you've GOT to come and hear this, boys!"
