It's also quite clearly made by a company that specialises in satirical and/or subversive stuff, taking the piss out of some of the awful tat that makes it into the mainstream.
That's as far south from my perspective as it can get. lol

I get a "train the little girls" pedophilia vibe from it.

I think that is fly tipping, whether you brought the rubbish your self or not. The digger is dumping trash in the river. What a tosser.:rcard:

My interpretation is that it's rubbish in the water that is being dumped the other side of the bridge as an emergency measure to let flood water flow more easily and not clog up altogether, which would eventually cause the bridge to fail. Not pretty but seeing the detritus left on Bournemouth beach yesterday, not surprising.

I reckon it's the Cromer Conservation Corps at work.

I agree ... The most likely interpretation is an intervention to prevent the trash buildup from turning the bridge into a dam and exacerbating what's already a flooding situation.

Yeah but you don't dump it back in the river to dam up the next village bridge!.

I don't see anything in the photo that clearly indicates the rubbish was being dumped back into the river.

My guess is that the debris scooped out of the water is being dumped out of frame to the left (e.g., into a waiting dump truck parked to the photographer's left). The backhoe / digger is leaving muddy tracks on the bridge in the foreground but not in the background.

?
It looks exactly like its going back in the water to me. You can see it floating off an all!
Otoh it does look a bit like emergency improvisation before the bridge washes away.

I was seeing a static photo both here and at the link (Imgur).

I've now made a video appear by selecting "Next Post" (@ Imgur), going to another thread, then returning to the linked page. Weird ... I've never seen that happen before.

OK - I stand corrected, because the video I hadn't seen before shows the rubbish being scooped from one side of the bridge to the other.

Putting LSD in the reservoir?

BIZARRE reports of 50 people with suitcases walking to a water reservoir remain a mystery.

Police officers were called to reports of a suitcase-carrying contingent at Ardingly Reservoir near Balcombe on Thursday.

But after a search nobody carrying a suitcase was found at the popular fishing spot.

Passengers from a broken down bus? Seems unlikely at the mo.

That's what occurred to me, too, when I saw the reporting officer's follow-up tweet:

Hello there, it's all a bit random...received calls from members of the public that a group of around 50 adults were walking down a middle of a road pulling suitcases heading towards Ardingly. We thought possible rave happening so carried out an area search, but they had vanished

The suggestion of 'dosing' a reservoir brought to mind Auden's poem Gare du Midi -

A nondescript express in from the South,
Crowds round the ticket barrier, a face
To welcome which the mayor has not contrived
Bugles or braid: something about the mouth
Distracts the stray look with alarm and pity.
Snow is falling, Clutching a little case,
He walks out briskly to infect a city
Whose terrible future may have just arrived.

(For me, Auden is always relevant. He has a poem to cover every situation.)

Not just relevant to Ardingly, really...

My dad was watch the football on telly earlier when i realised i could hear 'crowds'. Surely not?

Turns out they are dubbing the sounds of stadium crowds even though the stadium is empty :rollingw:

The crowd sounds are apparently taken from the FIFA computer game. You can turn the sound off it's claimed but I'm buggered if I can find the setting to do so.
