Our Clinical Pharmacy group in London had a collaboration with a renowned expert in Natural Medicine in Guatemala, with the aim of raising the standard of healthcare in rural settlements. in June some-one spread the rumour he was a Witch doctor and he was caught, beaten, soaked in gasoline and set on fire. Seriously W.T...F ?
The Guatemalan authorities in London will send out a team of Investigators, but only after we raise a £3,000 bond to cover expenses. I'm trying to get Supplier and bank details on headed paper to ensure the invoice comes from a legit company.

Why would the Guatemalan authorities in London have to send someone to Guatemala?

I don't know the details, I'm guessing so that something gets done.

Your porn collection? Or some of it?
Back before the internet had inflicted infinite amounts of the stuff on us, I used to know someone who claimed he had amassed 120 hours' worth of porn on VHS cassettes. Someone else in our circle did the maths, and came up with this glorious riddle: What do you get after five days of wa-, er, watching porn?

A weak end

Someone I know had a new Sky box years ago and gave the old one to an acquaintance. Subscriptions to 'interesting' channels were soon discovered on it.

The household was then visited, I was told by the wife of the new owner in between gasps of laughter, by a stream of friends and extended family with carrier bags full of old videos to fill up with material, apparently looking like a column of busy ants. Great fun!

I just found out that, at the start of Going Straight, Fletch is two years younger than I am now:

And, from that same episode, how about this for a bit of Nostradamus*?

* Although, it does have to be said that, if you do keep watching, there are a number of jokes that are very much looking back in time, rather than forward...

I love Porridge--absolutely love it--but curiously enough that's the first time I've ever caught any of Going Straight.

This I may rectify.

I was pleased to find vast swathes of Rising Damp on YouTube a while back. That's another brilliantly scripted piece of comedy.

I'm the same - I was dimly aware that Going Straight had existed, and I've had that snippet of the theme tune where he sings "straight as an arrer" as one of those clips that for some reason claim possession of a corner of your mind, but - other than a dim memory of the opening credits playing on our TV at home - I've never consciously watched it. I'm about halfway through that first episode, and although Fletch's exchanges with Jock wouldn't fly now, the scene between him and Mr Mackay on the train is really quite something. Time allowing, I'll be pursuing it further myself.

It isn't anywhere near as good. Actually, it's poor.
