Time Travelers / Travellers: Self-Proclaimed

Maybe at some point in the future it is revealed the Queen carked it many years ago and has been being impersonated by a double for ages.
Our time-traveller from the future would not then have included that as an event in our future.
Probably.
I believe that’s exactly what some in the QAnon community have been saying. It’s all making sense now..

No mention of the Queen dying.....

You're assuming that the time traveller is from our future, not from an alternative timeline where the Queen went some time ago or survives beyond this year. That sort of time travel where you can't access your own past, but hop to a closely related but not identical past somewhere else in the multiverse; this would avoid stable time-loops or causing a Grandfather Paradox.

Are you all so wedded to the idea of a time traveller that you're all blind to any deviation from that assumed truth?

What leads you to such a conclusion?

I'm referring to these posts.

Any time traveller who appeared prior to 2019 and didn't mention Covid can be safely ignored. Similarly any traveller who appeared prior to Sept 22 and doesn't mention the Queen dying can also safely be ignored.

If they were genuine, they would mention these two events to know to be taken seriously. But they don't, and can't be.

You can't specify such events as criteria for evaluating an alleged time traveler's validity unless the circumstances of their "visit" are such that the subject should have come up or they were pressed to give specific examples of significant future events.

In other words, unless you're able to pin them down on specifics and obtain a set of future events to serve as a reasonable checklist you'll have no basis for assuming any omission(s) represent evidence of a fake.

This is essentially the same problem encountered when trying to assess clairvoyants' predictions.

A lot of alleged time travel incidents involve merely transient visitor presence and / or interactions with the alleged time traveler - i.e., situations that don't provide the opportunity to gather specifics or a checklist.

Beyond that, there's the issue of whether a visitor from the future may rank / prioritize events for inclusion in a checklist so as to match our current expectations for what's relatively important (or not). To give a timely example ... There are millions of people worldwide for whom the Queen's death is an incidental non-event.

Also,
Any time traveller who appeared

...is assuming that they want to declare themselves as a time traveller and are not trying to stay incognito.

And also, what about the reluctant or inadvertent time traveller, who suddenly appears in the middle of town in a stormy night, wearing a ripped spacesuit, and shouting "Where am I? What year is this? Who's the President??"

as per

There is also the classic "disturbing the timeline" issue. If anyone took the covid warning seriously, we might prepare more than we actually did and therefore change the course of history. If someone says "the Queen will die on this date", quite a number of jerks would try to make it happen - or go after her earlier to disprove it. And she might have a fatal heart attack due to the stress.

The only real way the time traveler could "prove" foreknowledge would be to put it in a sealed envelope and designate a trusted party to open it at a very specific time. Of course, this would just look like a cheap magic trick.

How about someone brings back a video recording of a historical event and plays it five minutes before it actually happens?

Well, until any alleged time traveller gives us proof of knowledge of the future, they will not be believed by most people. Of all the ones that claim to be, there's very little actual evidence that they are from the future.

Of course! I think it's safe to say we all generally agree on that ...

A video recording? :hahazebs: Surely, they would have moved on from a videorecording format in the future?

It might be more convincing if they had it on some unknown/undiscovered format (in use in their future)- but had handily converted it into our current digital format for sharing purposes..... :)

some unknown/undiscovered format
Howabout......?

Of course if it has been recorded that someone turned up in their past and made a set of nonsense predictions they then will have to turn up and make the nonsense predictions......

'Time traveller from 2906' claims universe is kept in a 'massive jar by creator'

A TikTok user who claims to be a "time traveller from the year 2906" has claimed to know that our universe has a "creator" and that they keep our universe in a jar.

The warning, which was posted by @timevoyaging, even claims that humans have made their own universe in a jar, which will be discovered in March 2023. ...

"Our universe was created by someone who's universe is also in a jar and we have created one as well. On March 2, 2023, a Universal Jar will be found which was created by a kid by the name of Edward Thorn.

"The jar was a science project and it will lead to many amazing discoveries. We don't have much of an impact on those who created us but we can impact the ones we created." ...

Dubious photos from a tabloid. They keep popping up on my feed. Daily Star does bonkers, as does the Mirror. I think Triangle news keeps providing column space garbage to bulk up the "news".

TikTok self-described time traveller (could it be the same as the one mentioned above?) claims to have posted video from the future of the World Cup final. It'll be interesting if they're right.

'Time traveller' has shared footage from three weeks in the future showing who wins World Cup

Story by Sam Pearce • 1h ago

The World Cup is in full flow as we enter the final round of group stage fixtures, with it being make or break for most nations if they are to have any success in the tournament in Qatar.
However, we may as well stop now as a time traveller has been to the future and seen the final, or so they claim, posting the video to TikTok which shows the scoreline and goalscorers of the biggest football match on earth.
I’m sorry England fans, but it’ll be another four years at least till it comes home, with Gareth Southgate’s men not making the final, as two other powerhouses are there instead. Both Brazil and France are the lucky nations that get to compete in the biggest game in world football, should this ‘time traveller’ not be pulling our legs, surely that wouldn’t happen?!

World Cup final 2022: Brazil vs France

That’s right, the final a week before Christmas Day will see two of the biggest footballing nations in the world will be fighting it out for that coveted trophy, with Brazil looking for a historic sixth crown. On the other hand, the French would be looking to make it a hat-trick of titles, becoming back-to-back champions of the world in the process.
Many are playing it safe and predicting one of these sides to be the champion, which is understandable when you look at the quality in depth they both have, who would be favourites? Well it’d be a toss of a coin.

I guess that seeing as this is really happening now and not some event far off in the future, we can try and capitalize on it by placing some bets.
If it gets to the final 4 teams and Brazil and France are still 2 of them, then (assuming our chrononaut is genuine) we could bet against their opponents for a swift quid or three?

Predicting that the favourites and second favourites will meet in the final is always a fairly safe bet.

Oh, I'm really surprised.

I'm not entirely sure if my extremely sarcastic tone comes across in the above comment.
Just add it in, when you read it.
Nah, he just comes from a different timeline, obvs.

Having jumped back in time he has changed the future? Come on, have you never seen Star Trek, The Terminator etc?! (To be read with Trevp666's sarcastic tone!)

I'll reiterate and expand on what a time traveler would need to convince me:

  • Find historical footage of a major event that you know the exact time of, preferably something that is inevitable, even if known some minutes before it happens.
  • Make several copies of that footage in a format contemporary with the time it happened.
  • Travel back to several days before it happened.
  • Give the copies to trustworthy and universally respected individuals - news anchors and the like.
  • Allow them to watch it shortly before it happens, but swear them to absolute secrecy.
  • Set up a web site that will play the footage 5-10 minutes before it happens.

I just want a copy of the relevant Sports Almanac...

Sorted!
