Transparent Platforms (Glass Bridges & Balconies)

I don't care what they paid this girl but it wasn't enough.

The issue with modern videos like this, is that the the same thing can be achieved very easily with special effects. I appreciate that this one is real but the impact of images like this is somewhat lessened by the ubiquity of artificial spectacle, we are all a little jaded now.

I'd do that for a million quid and then spend of all it on therapy for the post traumatic stress afterwards.

A glass bridge in Venice has become notorious for causing pedestrian slips, falls and lawsuits. Authorities have decided to replace the glass with stone after a prior attempt to improve traction on the glass surface failed.
Venice to Replace Slippery Glass on Footbridge Because of ‘Almost Daily’ Tourist Tumbles

Venetian authorities have designs to replace the glass underfoot on a star architect’s slippery bridge, The New York Times reported Sunday, following years of pedestrian spills. The glass on the Ponte della Costituzione, arching over the Grand Canal, will instead be replaced with trachyte stone. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and opened in 2008, the bridge has become notorious as the site of numerous slips and falls, especially in the wet and wintry season. ...

A prior effort to apply resin and non-slip stickers reportedly failed to curb the “almost daily” tumbles on the beautiful but dangerous bridge ...

A Venetian retiree, well-versed in helping people off the bridge after their nasty spills, told the Times, “That is not a bridge. It’s a trap.”

A mate was a cop in Blackpool, he and his mate when on foot patrol
would stop in front of the tower and stand looking up, a large crowd
would form all staring up at the top of the tower, at which point they
would slip quietly away leaving the crowd staring at the top of the tower.

Kind of a bridge, for swimming. I wouldn't want a view underneath me if I was swimming that's for sure https://www.wandsworthguardian.co.uk/news/19350366.sky-pool-criticised-favouring-elite-swimmers/

The headline of that article is grossly misleading.

It claims the pool favours "Elite Swimmers."

What the article explains is that the pool is restricted to those who own their own properties, rather than those who are in shared ownership schemes in the neighbouring apartments.
Nothing to do with the swimming abilities of those who use it.

Since the article was published last summer, there have been rumblings about the high cost of heating the pool.

£450 per day.

There's the Blackpool Tower one, I should go have a look only a short boat and tram ride away.

I went up the glass lift here a couple of years ago, the higher we went I started feeling "funny". Shakes and cold sweats. Horrible! I did not get out to do the walkway after that , full b!own vertigo attack. If never been affected by it before , maybe we are more prone to suffer vertigo as we get older?

Maybe we do, years back a friend was a pilot and I did quite a lot
of the flying, I never had vertigo even when doing aerobatics,
but now especially the last 2 or 3 years I suspect I would struggle.

Glass bar dangles over canyon in Georgia

A 240-meter-long (787 feet) glass bridge with a "diamond-shaped" bar suspended in the center was unveiled at Dashbashi Canyon, located around two hours drive from capital city Tbilisi, in Southern Georgia earlier this week.

Constructed by investment group Kass Group, which operates in Israel and Georgia, the huge transparent structure, which rises to 280 meters (around 919 feet,) stretches across the natural monument, offering panoramic views of its stunning waterfalls and caves. ...

The bridge's stand out feature is undoubtedly its multi-level bar, located at its highest point, which is said to be the largest and tallest hanging structure in the world. The venue has reportedly been submitted to the Guinness World Records.

The project, which is estimated to have cost around $40 million, also includes a zip line, where visitors can bike across the canyon and a cliff "swing," while an array of guest suites located near the site are due to open in the coming months. ...

I was on a tour of the stars' homes in Hollywood many years ago. We were told that Danny Thomas's house - in a hilly area, with its main entrance on an upper floor - had a glass swimming pool on that upper floor so swimmers and people downstairs could see each other.
