Interesting BBC prog.

Inside Chernobyl's Mega Tomb

A massive construction to contain & dismantle the reactor, planned to last 100 years max. 18 years in planning, 7 years in construction, an extraordinary engineering feat worked on by a multinational team. Radiation & extreme cold to contend with, and many technical problems to solve in making the largest moved construction. It was too heavy to move on wheels so they came up with another method. Much more in prog.

I watched this one and enjoyed it, thought it was a really interesting documentary. If anyone else here hasn't seen it yet, I recommend giving it a watch.

The pressure's getting too much for clever clogs Victoria. She can't sleep at night. She has nightmares. But it's okay because they're just bad dreams. Until one day the dreams become real. Eddie Marsan stars in the final terrifying episode from a series of chilling plays for winter nights.

Another punchy Endeavour episode to enjoy:
Endeavour
Series 3 - Episode 2

Crime drama. When the shock death of an artist in a house fire leaves Oxford city police baffled, Endeavour is drawn into the strange world of a Quaker-owned supermarket.

So finally we arrive at Endeavour—a prequel to both Inspector Morse and Inspector Lewis. Written by veteran screenwriter Russell Lewis (who also wrote for the two previous series), we follow Endeavour Morse at the beginning of his career and see the forces that shape him as a man and as a detective. His penchant for culture is already prominent, although his taste for ale is just beginning. Morse has left Oxford University and is now part of the Oxford City Police, with the dedicated, decent, and fatherly Detective Inspector Fred Thursday as his mentor. And his unusual first name? Endeavour (or its American spelling, endeavor) means to strive to achieve or seriously try to do something. The name would be in keeping with Morse’s mother, who was a Quaker. It is also revealed in the 12th Inspector Morse book, Death is Now My Neighbor, that Morse’s father admired Captain James Cook who sailed to Australia aboard the HMS Endeavour.

All sorted now?

Zero Day: Nuclear Cyber Sabotage

This documentary is on BBC4 tomorrow night, short-listed for an Oscar and from the director of "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief" and "We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks"

Documentary thriller about warfare in a world without rules - the world of cyberwar. It tells the story of Stuxnet, self-replicating computer malware, known as a 'worm' for its ability to burrow from computer to computer on its own. In a covert operation, the American and Israeli intelligence agencies allegedly unleashed Stuxnet to destroy a key part of an Iranian nuclear facility. Ultimately the 'worm' spread beyond its intended target.

Zero Day is the most comprehensive account to date of how a clandestine mission opened forever the Pandora's box of cyber warfare. A cautionary tale of technology, politics, unintended consequences, morality, and the dangers of secrecy.

That's not science fiction. I was stopped by traffic cops near Anaheim for walking the half mile to the steak house up the road from the hotel. It was firmly suggested I drive next time.

Yup, try crossing a road in Las Vegas. You'll be run over and if you survive you'll be liable for damage to the vehicle.

My compliance was informed by the non-compliance of a driver in traffic outside the conference center the previous day, where two similar traffic cops had a guy out of his car and onto the bonnet at gun-point, because he argued with them...

Terry Pratchett documentary, 21.00 tonight on BBC2. A "dramatized" documentary, whatever that is. Paul Kaye plays Terry.

Life, Animated, the Disney autism doc, is on tonight on BBC Four at nine and will be on iPlayer afterwards. Medically fascinating, and emotionally tough, but worth seeing.
