Two Glitches In The Matrix / Timeslips!

Hi!

Not a lot of Fortean events happen to me other than increasingly regular glitch in the matrix/timeslip type events, one of which I have shared before which occured in Calais a few years ago. Recently I have had two within a couple of weeks! Here is the first one:

1) I was working at Trooping the Colour and was posted to man a crossing point for the Guards, which was shortly before you can turn right to head to Buckingham Palace (if someone could tell me how to copy them, I can paste the exact coordinates here!) All the park was closed off and there were few entry and exit points to the park, although there was one manned point near to the Downing street end of St James Park. I was stood with my Sergeant and was chatting with him when a blonde haired American woman in her early thirties cycled up to us in a distressed state, demanding rather rudely how to exit the park as she needed to get back to work. She was wearing a long white dress, had longish wavy blonde hair and was on one of those old fashioned bikes with a ladies crossbar and a straw basket on the front.

I tried to explain to her how to get out of the park and she would not listen and was quite rude and instead she went over towards the barriers that were in place a bit further around the corner. From here she would have had clear sight of the palace. I remember watching her shouting at someone into her phone. After a few minuites, my Sergeant and I watched her go past us down the slope on the path into the park that leads to the bridge over the lake, cocking her leg over the frame as it moved and ride off out of my sight. We both laughed and remarked to each other words to the effect of "can you imagine of she was your girlfriend? - she'd be a nightmare!". Almost immediately, I then looked back at where she had come from to monitor the crowds and the girl was .....back there on here phone!!!! There is NO way that she could have gotten back up there and past us due to the barriers and the geography of that part of the park - there was only one path to where she was stood and a small retaining wall underneath it. I am sure that my sergeant saw what happened to as he had a very puzzled look on his face and in typical Fortean fashion wanted to ask him but I felt a bit daft and so did not. I also feel a bit daft bringing it up with him now in case he thinks I'm daft or something!

2) The second one, I experienced the other day i it was Tuesday the 10th of July at about 18.30hrs. I was walking south east down to my mates house from Archway Tube, along the A1/Holloway rd and was on the south footway, when just before I reached St Johns grove/Pemberton gardens, I saw a funny looking guy with long, ginger hair - he looked like Ginger Baker the drummer from Cream - walk past me in the direction of the tube. He was about 30 years old and was wearing light coloured trousers and a light coloured shirt. He was walking at a normal pace.

Just past this junction I crossed the road and went onto the opposite footway, making my way in the same direction towards Davenant Rd, N19. I did not stop and walked at a normal pace. As i reached the junction with Holloway rd/Davenant Rd, I glanced acrosss to the green space on the other side of the road and saw the same guy emerge and head up towards the tube. there is no way that he could have done this as there are railway lines in the way and in any case, even if there wasn't tracks ion the way it would have been pointless and physically impossible in the time given!

Anyhow, those are my most recent glitch in the matrix type stories! I don;t know why they happen to me - I'm very observant so maybe they happen to other without them noticing! Does anyone else experience these kind of things?

Never had this happen to me, but your accounts sound like some bored demi-god playing around with the rewind on his cosmic remote control. Or maybe he leaned on it accidentally a couple of times while you happened to be in the vicinity. Cool stories.

A half-deity butt-dialing the past back into existence.... That's one theory...

I think these are great stories in their every-dayness. You are a perceptive person, Mr. 1975! Who knows how often this sort of thing happens, but people are too much into their own agendas to perceive?

I have a similar ' How did he do that ?' experience from 2 years ago. I left the house to walk into central Leeds, about 20 minutes. Just as I set off up the road a young man of about 20 passes me in the other direction : like yours he was quite distinctive, fair hair protruding from under a loose wooly hat, blue eyes, pale skin, wearing a half length black coat and white drainpipe jeans.
My walk proceeded uneventfully until just past the Metropolitan University he passed me again, what must have been between 15 and 20 minutes later.
Continuing downhill to the nearest bus stop would have taken him 5 minutes at least and had there been a bus there it would have taken about 15 minutes to reach town, and he would have had a walk of at least 5 minutes to reach our second meeting point. There wasn't anywhere he could have been going that he couldn't have reached quicker by getting off the bus at an earlier stop and thus not passed me again at all , and here he was heading back in the direction of the University and Hyde Park from whence he had just came. He wasn't walking particularly quickly and on our second meeting seemed just as unhurried as the first.
I just cannot work out how he could have done that when the bus journey alone could take 15-20 minutes on a bad day if indeed he got on it.

A few weeks ago as i was walking to work i was about to cross the road when i saw a woman and toddler walking slowly on the other side. The tot was just learning to walk and she was holding his arms, you know really young, and moving real slow. Rather than cross the road and come up behind them i decided to walk a few blocks and then cross over. I walk fast, and when i walked 2 blocks and i looked over the lady and kid had paced me. Unless she picked him up and ran 2 blocks and then set him back down just as i looked over, i dont see how they could have kept up. My brisk walking had to have been much faster than some mom teaching her kid to walk. The more i pay attention, the more i see of these types of things.
On a related note a few weeks ago i was watching sports highlights in the pub and watched a guy hit a baseball into the outfield that seemed to disapear into a small flower planter. At the time it seemed impossible that a ball could land here and not be found by the fans hanging over the rail. I just looked up the incident now and supposedly the ball was found later. I guess it just spent some time in another dimension, and then came back, no biggie.

The second incident sounds like something called Vardoger in Norway (as my nickname).

A vardoger is someone you might be passing while you're out walking:
If it is someone you know you might say "hi!" to the person but you will not get any response. A couple of minutes after you have passed this person you encounter the same person again. This time the person will be for real and if you greet him this time, you will get a "hi!" back from him.

It's like a ghost foretelling that this person is on its way.

"Sound only" vardogers happens a lot in Norway. I think most Norwegians have experienced this:
Perhaps you are in the living room and suddenly hear a lot of noise from the entrance and think someone is coming. But no one is coming. A few minutes to later you hear exactly the same noise again, this time it's the real person.

Here''s the Wikipedia article about Vardogers:

Not sure if this belongs here. Yesterday I decided to look at my emails and just as I clicked one noticed one come up from my eldest daughter-it has her name and sirname- with the title "books."
I read the email I had clicked but when I came back there was no email from my daughter. I checked deleted and junk but no luck.
Thinking she must be wanting to see if the sequel was out of a book I'd given her eldest I emailed her but she said she hadn't sent one.
I just find it very odd as she seldom emails as it's from work and wondering if an alternate reality intruded for a minute before it corrected.

Went to the drafts section of the email yesterday looking for a password and there was the email, unopened, but it was from the 5th of June. It wasn't something I would save and still have no idea why it popped up so much later.

We call them Scalextric people.
If you spend a while sitting in coffee shops looking out the window you will notice the same people seem to walk passed, going in the same direction, all day long.
Its rather like in Scooby Doo cartoons when they would be running down a corridor or passed a crowd and there would actually only be about 3 background items.

One I noticed a couple of years ago. I was driving through town and not far from my starting point there was a person in a wheelchair, looking like they were about to cross the road. I slowed down and flashed for them to cross but they didn't.
Then about 5 minutes down the road the same person in a wheelchair again looking like they were about to cross the road. No way anyone could have got there in the time it took me to drive there.

I often notice a similar effect to the 'Scalextric People' but with cars. A great place to witness this is in the Northern Quarter in Manchester. Whenever I am sitting outside one of the bars on Thomas Street I notice the same cars going past two, three or four times or more. There are some confusing one way systems in this part of town and I put this down to drivers getting lost or confused by the traffic flow. Another possibility is that they are waiting to collect a passenger and in order to avoid parking charges utilise the circular route around the block.

Whatever the reason for drivers literally going round in circles, it is quite fascinating to watch and you can even make a game out of it by guessing who'll come round next ("I bet the Orange Beetle makes another round before the Fiat 500 with the balloons in the back") or how many times they'll circulate.

I noticed it in Manchester on Coronation Street - the same few cars keep driving around the street! :)

Boy racers tend to do laps of town centres, some people do laps while they were waiting on someone to save them parking / getting a telling off from the traffic warden.

The alternative to being a Scalextric person could possibly be looking like a maniac. Think of it: you see someone walking along the road when suddenly they do a 180 degree turn to continue in the opposite direction. The result is they look like a maniac.

So what they do instead is walk in the same direction, then turn a few corners to go in the opposite direction, then once they've done what they forgot about they can carry on their journey - and you see them again as a Scalextric person.

My mother always calls these Scalextric people, God's extra's. Her belief is that when God's having a bad day he'll just make the same 20 or so people walk around for you to see as he doesn't have time to make any others turn up!

I always wonder if there's anyone out there, who when they see me think, oh FFS, there's THAT woman again! :D

Interesting that this should be a frequent enough occurrence that several people have - apparently independently - coined a name for it. Perhaps we need a conversation on Scalextric (my, I used to have trouble with spelling - or even saying - that as a kid) people, as opposed to vardogers or actual time slips. I like cherrybomb's mum's explanation!

I have once or twice had a sort of 'didn't I just see that car or person' moment but I've always put it down to the 'eye being faster than the conscious brain' effect. (The trivial form of deja vu). I'll try to pay more attention in future.

Came across this apparent timeslip a while ago on b3ta -

He just disappeared.
My father, when I was young, was the teacher in charge of school upkeep during the summer holidays. Once a week, we’d stop through to make sure nobody had smeared shit on the walls, then we’d check the meters and go home. For my sister and I, these trips were particularly fun. We could run through the corridors of a school! We could shout in a school! We could do cartwheels in a classroom! Best yet, we could see what the boys’ toilets looked like!

On one nondescript summer day, my dad, my sister and myself made the usual walk to the school. We got up to the usual bumbling about, while my dad got up to his usual duties. Time came to leave.

“C’mon kids! Time to leave!”
“All right, dad!”

We saw him walking towards the front door, then, I swear to Darwin and Tesla, he fucking disappeared. One second, there was a dad. The next, nothing. Right before our bloody eyes. There was no mist, no image dissolving like in the movies. CLICK – he was gone, and the only place he could have gone was through the front door.

My sister and I thought he was playing a joke, a bit of a scary hide-and-seek. We ran through the building, searching every locker and cranny. Nothing. Then we started crying out, scared. Nothing. Surely a father – and my dad was the greatest, at this point would sheepishly emerge to calm us down. Nothing. Three hours passed and we had no sign of our father, we couldn’t go home because we were locked in and we couldn’t get to a phone to call our mother. So we sat in a corridor and waited.

“Are you coming, kids? What are you doing sitting down, I told you to come here!”

And there was dad again, standing in the same spot.

“DAD! WHERE DID YOU GO!! WE WERE SO SCARED!”

“I, well, I didn’t go anywhere, I’ve been standing here the whole time, sillies.”

“NO, DAAAAAAAAAD, you disappeared! We were sad! We cried! We looked everywhere for you!”

“Don’t be stupid, kids. Obviously, I…”

And then he checked his watch. Indeed, three hours has passed. He turned a whiter shade of green, and we walked home in silence.

I had spent the years following assuming that my dad had played a dirty trick on us, that he took it as an opportunity to skip out on his kids so he could go to the bar or something. I brought it up again a few years later.

“I swear on your mother’s life, I didn’t go anywhere. I remember calling out to you kids, then suddenly the two of you were sitting down. Three hours were gone, but not a single second had passed for me.”

“Yeah, sure, dad.”

“I swear on your life, I didn’t hide from you. And in those years since it happened, I lie awake at night wondering what happened to me during those three hours. I – [voice cracking] - don’t know what happened…”

I’m inclined to believe my dad and to believe my own eyes (HE FUCKING DISAPPEARED!!!) But was it a dad playing a particularly devious joke on his kids? Eh, I’m not so certain of that. I certainly can’t explain what happened, and dad’s admitted to all of his other practical jokes by now.

There was only one way he could have run away to hide, and that was through the door. That door was locked. All I know is that he disappeared right before my eyes.

Have you posted that here before, Scargie? Because I know I've read it before....

Or I've just had my very own time slip!

Yup, I have indeed posted it before.
It's from one of the spooky Question of the Week b3ta threads, where the yarns on offer are expected to be genuine and mickey-takers are ridiculed.

It came to mind because someone recently described a slightly similar school-related timeslip incident.

Which of course I can't find now, durr.

I was just wondering if there’s been more glitches since cern got going. If it rucked anything up or put anything out of kilter. I suppose we wouldn’t know, no one is keeping note and most people just shake their heads and get on with thing.
