I noticed a guy on the train with what looked like a very well read bible but when I glanced over it had this symbol over what looked like a Buddha. BTW it was that symbol above so it didn't really strike me a Buddhist.

So he's a follwer of Calvary chapel. Anyone know about these guys?

I've seen references to the Calvary Chapel organization, but I don't know much about them. They're not a denomination per se, but more like a network of affiliated churches with a common doctrinal base operating broadcasting nodes worldwide.

That particular descending dove image is a registered trademark of Calvary Chapel. However, the descending dove symbology is not unique to Calvary Chapel. I think it derives from the description of the Holy Spirit descending from the sky in the form of a dove when Jesus was baptized.

That would make sense ... As I understand it, Calvary Chapel puts a lot of emphasis on Bible study and analysis.
