Upcoming Marvel Adaptations

I dunno.
That collection could demand some big money in the field.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: Another triumph of storytelling and varying animation styles across the Spider-Verse, Gwen Stacey, Spider-Woman is still having problems with her police captain dad and after she reveals her identity to him she reconnects with Miles Morales the Teen Spider-Man of his Earth. She joins with in his pursuit of Spot a super-Villain created due to Miles' destruction of the Alchemax collider in the previous film. Spot's creation story is rendered in blacklined on white animation. Miles has problems with his own police captain father, indeed such problems are a common occurrence. In Mumbatten, wonderfully rendered in Mobius style where the Spider-Man is Pavitr Prabhakar. his love interests's father is also a police officer. They are joined in their struggles by Spider-Punk, Hobart Brown, an agitprop, collage style web spinner. As the plot thickens we learn of Canon events which must take place across the Spider-Verse and a few of the characters are withholding information from the others. And there;s also the Guardians of the Spider-Verse: the Spider Society. A host of spider folk including Spider-Cat; Web-Slinger, compete with masked horse; even a Spider-Therapist to mention just a few. Enormously entertaining. Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson from a screenplay written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and David Callaham. 8.5/10.

In cinemas.

Saw this with my wife and kids on Saturday. It was wonderful. By far the best movie I've seen this year. Just great story telling with compelling characters.

I thought it was really good how they tied it into the wider MCU with mention of the Avengers and that 'nerdy' Peter Parker. I can't wait to watch it again.

The least said about Ant Man and Wasp: Quantumania the better. I love Paul Rudd as Ant Man but the story was so meh. Kang just isn't menacing enough a bad guy either.

The nut job Dr Moreau in GOG3 was much better a bad guy.

The Marvels: At times the trio act like The Simpsons or maybe The Three Stooges but supply as many laughs as both of those in their prime. Well. it's all Carol Danvers' fault, after she destroyed rhe Supreme Intelligence, the Kree have a civil war which ecologically wrecks their home planet Hala and damages their sun. Dar-Benn, the new leader of the Kree, retrieves one of the Quantum Bands, of which Kamala Khan (Ms Marvel) has the other half. Dar-Benn harnesses the power of the Band to tear open a jump point in space. This causes damage The resulting anomaly is investigated by from separate sides by Monica Rambeau and Carol Danvers. When Rambeau touches the anomaly, she, Danvers, and Kamala switch places through teleportation.[c] The switching causes the three to fight each others' Kree enemies, leaving the Khans' house destroyed in their wake. This becomes results in some slapstick comedy scenes which also advance the narrative. How will they sort this out? Nick Fury is involved as well, so is the lovable cat who sprouts tentacles from his mouth and swallows the Kree leader's henchmen wh o aall sound like Jason Statham. Actually cats go on to avert a catastrophe in this film. The Skrull once again have to be rescued by the trio and Danvers learns lessons about her Great White Saviour Complex. We even get a planet where the inhabitants communicate through song, colourfully dressed like aliens from STOS or early episodes of STNG. Some great battle scenes and one to combat, all delivers with a soupcon of humour. Not the greatest of the Marvel films (this is the 33rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)). but well worth watching. Directed by Nia DaCosta, who co-wrote the screenplay with Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik. 7.5/10.

In cinemas.
