Seen this holiday in German municipal flower plots. I think they're asters?
Same kind of symmetry as pineapples and pinecones.

Asters are normally more 'messy' looking than these; I think they might be dahlias?

Chrysanthemum flowers also show the same kinds of symmetry, it's very beautiful.

Ah now, they are not symmetrical. As soustupido mentions, the petals are arranged in the Fibonacci sequence so that they overlap without covering each other.

But now thinking, why sometimes they are not symmetrical, like this corn grains that have grown asymmetrical?

Vegetable rather than flower, but the striking, fractal appearance of the Romanesque Broccolli always makes me stop and admire, on the rare occasions when it's available at my local market:

It is beautiful, and tastes nice; I can't understand why it's so rare to see it in the shops! I've tried growing it this year, but without success :(
