Facinating. It's sad to think that the firemen you can see hurrying up the stairs are almost certainly dead now. A sobering thought.

Yes, but in a few years, just think how many cheap films will have distorted these people's heroism.
You only have to look at recent big budget films to see how personalities, charcter profiles and facts are altered to make the history more interesting.
 
You're right RD, give it 5-7 years, and the American networks are going to be awash with touchy, feely, tacky films that IMHO will sensationalise these peoples bravery. But unfortunately, maybe that's the only way the film industry feels that that's what the majority of the audiences want to watch :(

On a somewhat lighter note, the picture of the fireman who was going up those stairs made it out, and was interviewed recently on TV.

Saw the interview - typical hero : totally modest, just doing his job.
 
very interesting. however i fail to see what it has to do with forteana. perhaps if you'd mentioned the devils face in the smoke it may have something to do with the theme of this site (the devils face is on the same site if anyone wants to see it)
