A councillor who advertised his girlfriend for sex over the internet has been given a suspended sentence.
Alan Burkitt, 48, of West Bromwich, West Midlands, admitted four counts of causing prostitution between November 2005 and February 2006.
The court heard more than 20 men paid £50 for her services while Burkitt, an Independent member for Sandwell Council, sat in the room next door.
A council spokesman said the council found the matter "abhorrent".
'Easily led'
Prosecuting, Stuart Clarkson told Wolverhampton Crown Court the woman had an IQ of 52 and mild learning disabilities.
"She is easily led and was not able to give informed consent to sexual activity in return for money.
"Men would come to the house, pay her and she would surrender the money to the defendant."
He thought both of them could put themselves forward to earn money on the site, but to nobody's surprise there was little interest in him
Andrew Fisher, defending
Burkitt, who represents Charlemont with Grove Vale ward, and formerly of Beaconview Road, had been in a relationship with her for eight years.
He was arrested on 5 March last year after she told her family what was going on.
In mitigation, Andrew Fisher said she had consented to the work and that it was to help them out of financial difficulties.
"He thought both of them could put themselves forward to earn money on the site, but to nobody's surprise there was little interest in him."
He said the woman made the accusation after she mistakenly believed he was seeing another woman.
Burkitt was handed a 12-month sentence suspended for two years.
'Automatically disqualified'
Allison Fraser, chief executive of Sandwell Council said Burkitt's conduct would appal decent, right-thinking people.
"We are horrified that an elected representative of this authority could behave in such a way in his private life.
"We wholeheartedly welcome today's sentence and are pleased to see that justice has been done.
"It also means, under national legislation governing local authorities, that Burkitt is automatically disqualified from his membership of the council.
"We unreservedly welcome that, too," she said.
She added disqualification cannot take effect until the last date for an appeal has passed. This can take between 21 and 28 days.

"Dominatrix" cleared of robbery
A MOTHER-of-two who advertised herself online as a dominatrix has been cleared of robbing a man she arranged to meet over the internet for a bondage session.
Rebecca McDonald, of Westminster Crescent, Leeds, was accused of carrying out a robbery while the victim was tied up in velcro straps, blindfolded and gagged at his home near Halifax last year.
A jury today took less than two hours to return a not guilty verdict following the 25-year-old's four-day trial at Bradford Crown Court.
The court had been told McDonald had sent a text message telling the man to open the door, go to an upstairs bedroom and blindfold himself for a "tie-and tease" session.
But her former boyfriend Jason Whale then entered the bedroom, pushed the victim's face into the bed and ransacked his house, stealing thousands of pounds of property including electrical equipment.
Whale, 26, of Rose Farm Close, Altofts, Normanton, has admitted robbery and is due to be sentenced in court tomorrow.
McDonald had denied the charge, saying that she did not take part in the robbery and did not know what Whale had been planning.

Sex god possessed rape accused, court told
By Greg Stolz
A GOLD Coast man who claimed his body was regularly taken over by an ancient Egyptian sex god appeared in court yesterday charged with sexually assaulting his teenage stepdaughter.
The 29-year-old man and his 40-year-old wife, an erotic masseuse and "spiritual healer", allegedly had sex with and in front of the 14-year-old girl. The mother also allegedly had sex with the daughter's boyfriend.
Both pleaded not guilty in Southport District Court to nine charges including rape, carnal knowledge and maintaining a sexual relationship with a child.
Opening what he described as a "bizarre" case, Crown prosecutor Peter Nolan said the man claimed to take on the persona of Min, the ancient Egyptian god of sexuality and fertility.
"Min" went into a trance-like state and took commands to perform sex acts on his stepdaughter from the accused woman, who was known as "master" and who called her daughter "the entity", the court was told.
Mr Nolan claimed this was a "charlatan act" so the accused could seduce the girl. Mr Nolan said most of the alleged offences occurred in the garage of the couple's home, where the woman operated a massage business.
In a statement read to the court, the victim said she was convinced that Min was an "unlimited god" with "special powers" that would make her forget she had been molested as a child, cure her of a cyst and teach her how to have multiple orgasms.
"My mother told me not to be afraid. She said it would change my life forever," she said in the statement.
The victim said she had eventually gone to the police to protect her siblings "so it would never happen to them".
She said she still loved her mother "no matter what". The trial continues.
Is your dog in heat and humping anything it can wrap its horny little legs around? Are you constantly having to pry your promiscuous pooch off the legs of guests, parents and members of your church? Protect your leg from a hump attack by getting Scruffy a Hotdoll. Yes, it's a sex doll for dogs. It's shaped like a dog and it'll allow your tension-filled pet to go to town as much as his little heart desires, humping away until he passes out in exhaustion, leaving a wispy coil of friction-singed dog-fur smoke wafting into the air.
God, I love the Internet. Hit the jump for more hot dog-on-doll action shots. Don't pretend like you don't want to see them.
"My mother told me not to be afraid. She said it would change my life forever," she said in the statement.

Redirect your animal instincts with a French letter
Take a look at these French public health posters warning about the dangers of contracting AIDS.
A quick scan of the New Scientist office finds most people are pretty disturbed by them and get the message about risky sex. (Although, one of our journalists admitted finding them strangely erotic...)
Research has shown that people are dissuaded from smoking by graphic images plastered on cigarette packets. And the UK government's AIDS campaign in the 1980s is widely credited with controlling the spread of HIV nationally.
But do you find the message more compelling when delivered by scary and horrifying posters like the new French campaign? Or are sexy campaigns more persuasive?

A sicko drill sergeant who got his kicks photographing bare-chested recruits so he could "document their physical development" made some of his victims dress up in a spandex "Superman" outfit before having sex, CID sources say.
Staff Sgt. Edmundo Estrada, who practiced his perversions at Ft. Eustis, Va., faces court-martial in April and is charged with "indecent assault, having inappropriate relationships with trainees, and cruelty and maltreatment of subordinates," an Army spokesman said.
The 35 year-old noncom from Hampton, Va. allegedly performed sexual acts - "Hello, Monica and Bill" - on the intimidated recruits while they wore a costume similar to the getup from the famed comic book and TV character"Superman."
One GI told investigators Estrada would watch a pornographic movie on his television while doing the dirty deed. How did a nut like this guy ever make it through drill instructor school? It's one-thing to be mean and ill-tempered, that's normal for DI's, but if investigators are right, this NCO is one sick puppy.
Estrada's civilian quarters were raided last August and cameras, cassettes and VHS tapes were seized. The veteran Army sergeant was arraigned in January. At present, the E-6 is on active duty, but relieved from his "role" as drill instructor.
A TRAINEE COMPLAINS AND THE CASE "BLOWS" WIDE OPEN
The case blew wide open, no pun intended, when a soldier went to officials claiming he'd been mistreated and sexually assaulted by his D.I.
The young man claimed he told Estrada he was suffering from depression and the NCO suggested a "special technique" that the sarge said he'd used before to help soldiers win back their self-confidence.
"Estrada would verbally describe a sexual act of torture, related to the pornographic movie, and the victim was supposed to respond by moaning," the GI's affidavit said. The teenager also wrote he was forced to dress in a Superman outfit, complete with cape, while S/Sgt Estrada "performed sexual acts" upon him.
The trainee told CID that he felt if he didn't comply with what Estrada wanted, he would suffer unpleasant consequences.
All the alleged victims claim Estrada cautioned them "not to mention" the play-acting and sex sessions to anyone.
